Assessment is an important part of each of the IB programs .It targets essential elements of the program.

The assessment process

connected with planning , teaching and learning because they keep a track of the progress that the student is making and can be only
completed through assessment.

The school provides criteria for students which are then used to assess their progress. This is considered a learning journey that
the student embarks on for a year. The school makes sure that they announce these criteria to the community and parents are told
about the topic overviews and expected outcomes of students.

The school tries to be creative in the strategies and tools they use to assess the learning of the students. They try to be precise
and accurate in their assessment to derive the best possible results of the students knowledge and ability.

The tools used to record the students are mentioned such as videos, notes, photos and ICT tools. Once the assessments are done
the school processes and analyzes the data retrieved and derives results. For example in grade 1 and grade 2 writing assessments
they observed that children should be further more exposed to writing assessments in order to improve their writing skills.

Therefore more hours in the literacy activities were adjusted to enhance the overall learning process. Before learning something
new children are assessed because if the observers are not aware of what the child already knows then they cant really provide
precise results of lessons learned.

Moreover the students are allows to participate in their own assessment by writing down or speaking their suggestions or concerns.
Since I have worked with children I always preferred asking them several questions.

This allowed me to build a rapport with the students and have a better understanding of their learning. By the time PYP exhibition is
complete the school provides the students a chance to demonstrate their learning. At the end of the year there is an exhibition of
the students artwork which gives them a sense of accomplishment.
