Tran disciplinary Learning

This kind of learning is a great example how a lot of different areas of learning can be covered
in one unit planner. An example of this would be, the students worked on their communication
skills whilst presenting their timelines and the artifacts to their audience, also using creative
skills through art and drama activities. Researching skills also were touched upon and developed
by creating questions, recording analyzing data by using software to create graphs to record
their results. Their social skills also improved because they were communicating in various ways
for different projects. Self and time management skills were also developed as they had to
manage and organize themselves efficiently in their projects/ presentation.

Reflection:

Once the students had developed their questions, collecting relative data and then analyze. The
students had the opportunity to reflect on what they had learned verbally and through creative
activities. They clearly learned the importance of respecting their own and other familys
histories, culture and traditions. Individually they reflected and made decisions after analyzing
and discussing the elements of their culture and historical factors, which clearly indicates upon
their reflection their learning was successful.

Differentiated learning

This kind of planning process allowed each student with an opportunity to actively participate in
related topic activities. It provided them with many ways to be involved, taking into
consideration and respecting other individuals learning abilities and needs. How each student
presented varied, some of them delivered their presentations verbally, some of them had
written, they had options to be creative through drama and activities. Data which was collected
was analyzed and then used virtual tools to reflect the findings. This is very clear that each
student contributed in the way which interested them to their level of ability and knowledge. To
look further into the planning process it would be interesting to research further how this
planning tackles the differentiated learning in terms of special needs.

Concept driven learning

The planner has covered and looked at allot of different concepts that are important such as
change, perspective, and reflection which they will use in their life and studies. Its very
interesting to see how the author has interrelated history, tradition and time with the main
concepts. The students had access to various activities that allowed them to analyze ideas
rephrase, reapply them and correct any misconceptions and find their own meaning of it. A
great example of this is how they instructed the students to rebuild the story in a
backward route. Its very interesting to hear students opinions and ideas on how their
ancestors would react if they saw the modern times for example, fashion, travelling and
computers and many more.
