INTRODUCTION

Welcome to The Purpose Activation Blueprint!

This blueprint is a step-by-step process for living a
purposeful, fulfilling and abundant life. All great things
start with an idea, a plan. The same can be said of great
lives, as they are forged with a plan, a blueprint to live
and lead with an explicit relationship to life purpose.
Although each of has a unique purpose, few of us have
fulfilled our destiny to live in explicit relationship to it.
Today, you join the few in finding, living and creating a
livelihood around your lifes purpose.

WARNING:
If you proceed, you may find yourself
fully engaged in life, living a longer, happier,
healthier and more connected existence.

The ManKind Project is a global nonprofit [501 (c)(3)] charitable organization that conducts challenging and highly rewarding
programs for men at every stage of life. The ManKind Project supports a global network of peer-facilitated mens groups, where men
mentor men through the passages of their lives. The ManKind Project empowers men to missions of service, supporting men to make
a difference in the lives of men, women, and children around the world. We help men through any transition, men at all levels of
success, men facing almost any challenge. Our flagship training, described by many as the most powerful mens training available, is
the New Warrior Training Adventure. The ManKind Project (MKP) is not affiliated with any religious practice or political party. We strive
to be increasingly inclusive and culturally aware.

PURPOSE Activation Blueprint

Why Should We Find Purpose?

Purpose is the key to living a longer, happier, healthier life, and creating a
better world. When we call purpose into our lives, we make the bold decision
to be original, to build a life that fulfills us, provides for us economically,
allows us to connect with the people we love and uses our greatest gifts.
Purpose is our initiation to the path of leadership, of finding our own voice,
forging our own path in the world, of contributing all we have towards the
greatest good.

The Science of Purpose

As more of the world is waking up to living a purposeful life, the scientific community has
found and substantiated the benefits of finding purpose as well:

1. Purpose makes us live longer, up to seven years longer.

(Butler NIH, 1998; Carelton, 2014)
2. Purpose leads to a more vigorous life, by reducing overall mortality rate by 23%
and death from coronary heart disease by 19%. (Mt. Sinai, 2015)
3. Purpose helps fight Alzheimers disease and depression.
(NIMH, 2005, Boyle/Rush, 2014)
4. Purpose helps us create profitable businesses.
(Deloitte, 2013)
5. Purpose builds better relationships.
(Leider/Metlife, 2009)
6. Purpose gives our life meaning.
(Stanford, 2013)
7. Purpose creates a more equal and tolerant society.
(Harvard / Cornell / Carelton, 2014)

PURPOSE Activation Blueprint

Why Now?
There is a purpose revolution afoot. Never before in the history of our species have practical,
proven tools for finding our lifes purpose been made widely available. Previous generations
were either ignorant of the existence of a life purpose, or faced a multiple-decade search
through ancient texts to decode the meaning of their lives. 100 years ago, psychology
gave us testable hypotheses for how human consciousness works. Over the last 50 years,
practitioners have developed effective tools to guide people into their lifes purpose and
help them transform their whole lives with it.

Now our species is able to use these scientifically-validated tools to

democratically empower humanity with life purpose, to emancipate
every human, both from the internal constraints of fear, depression
and addiction as well as oppression by mainstream media and a
worsening economic climate.

This unprecedented opportunity for creating a culture of purpose, for awakening,

empowering and liberating men could not have come at a better time. Currently, 87% of
humans do not live in explicit relationship to their purpose and are actively disengaged at
work (Gallup, 2014). 87% of us are living what Thoreau so aptly described as lives of quiet
desperation, trading our true desires, gifts and energy for paychecks while chasing a false
image of success. Now each us can use these tools to claim our destiny of purpose, action,
and giving away our greatest gifts in service of a better world.

This shift is underway with 1000s of social entrepreneurs, stepping into their purpose
and leading our species towards a more generative, sustainable and just society. Men like
Yvonne Chouinard, Elon Musk and Richard Branson are radically reshaping our world for the
better with their vision, energy and resources. However, these men are not superhuman, but
rather men who answered the call of their purpose. The men saw what was possible; they
envisioned a better world and dared to step into action.

YOU TOO have answered this call by taking the first step and opening this Purpose
Activation Blueprint. With these tools you are ready activate your purpose, and be the
awakened, driven, purposeful man your children and grandchildren will thank you for being.

Purpose Defined
Before we can live a life of purpose, we have to discover it. But ask 100 people what purpose means and you
are likely to get 100 different answers. Heres how we hold the definition of Purpose:

The act of giving my authentic self (my true essence) along with my gifts and
talents to the world...in service to something bigger than myself.
A life of purpose begins with who I am. From my authentic self flows my natural gifts and talents, the things
that bring me alive. Finally, these are focused into action in service to the world. This is the simplest form
of Purpose, and well discuss each of these components in detail in a moment. A few other things about
purpose are worth mentioning before we go on:

Purpose is a Relationship
Purpose is deciding to relate to both myself and the world in an intentional way. With purpose, we choose
who we are and how we show up in relationship to our bodies, our loved ones, our community, country,
species and planet. We choose how we respond to our environment and society, and in turn the world
responds to us, in constant conversation.

Purpose is Dynamic
As I grow and change, so does the world. Naturally then, the relationship between myself and the world will
also grow and change. The Purpose relationship is dynamic, meaning that it necessarily adapts as I gain new
knowledge, skills or abilities or as the world presents new problems or opportunities.

Purpose is a Commitment
Purpose is vigilant; it begs us to stay awake, on point, ready to act and make sacrifices for the greater good.
A life of purpose requires sacrifice and commitment to the vision larger than ourselves, and it requires
commitment to stay engaged, to return to the path and continue the journey even when we falter or stray.

The 3 Components of Your Purpose Statement

There are three components of our purpose, and depending on who we are, what stage of life we are in, one
component will feel more meaningful and electric than the other two. These three components are:

1. Essence - The qualities of our being, how we and others

describe ourselves, e.g. kind, curious, playful, intelligent,
productive, visionary, creative, compassionate, loving,
brave. We express these essential qualities naturally and
effortlessly, although they can be consciously amplified
I SSION over time as we grow and evolve.
M
FTS
GI 2. Gifts - The natural abilities, acquired skills, and
SENC expressions of our essence that bring us joy and make
us feel alive. They are also of great value and benefit to
ES

others when given. These are the ways we transform the

world, e.g. teaching, healing, listening, creating, building,
protecting, providing. Our gifts only increase over time, as
we develop more mastery and cultivate new skills.

3. Mission - The direction in which our essence and gifts

are applied to positively affect others. Mission itself requires
two components: VISION + ACTION. In order to navigate the
world, we must have a VISION for what is and what could be.
And to move forward we must focus our essence and gifts
into a definite and concrete plan of ACTION.

Purpose Statement Exercise

We can unite these three realms of purpose by creating a purpose statement. To help you craft your purpose
statement, weve created this 30-minute purpose discovery exercise. Have a notebook handy and listen to
the step-by-step instructions in the audio, then once you have finished, you will have a purpose statement
that follows this formula:

As a [Essence] man, I [Gift] by or through [Mission in the World].

Example: As a powerful and wise man, I inspire my community and create a
sustainable world, by teaching people permaculture.

Having completed the exercise above, you are now 25% of the way through your Purpose Activation
Blueprint! Just having a purpose statement puts you in a special class of humans - people who have begun
to live truthfully, powerfully and committed to action and leaving the world a better place. You are now
prepared to join the 13% of the global population that is on-purpose, on-fire, creative and engaged at work
(Gallup, 2014). Ready to move your purpose statement into action?

5
PURPOSE Activation Blueprint

Build Your Purpose Support Team

Your purpose statement is your key to the kingdom, but without action, without turning the key and
opening the door, the statement itself is just a sentence. To move your purpose statement from words to
reality, youll need to take action and communicate your purpose.

As no human is an island, the purpose-driven man by necessity takes his purpose out into the world. The
first step of doing this is to build your purpose team, a group of people who you respect and trust, who will
help you refine, express and live your purpose in the world.

Purpose Team Exercise

This is a two-part exercise. First, open your journal and make a list of 5 people who you respect and trust.
Ideally, these folks are people who are already living purposefully. Who in your life is on-fire with purpose?
Odds are you know at least 1 or 2 people who are living truthfully and in alignment. Other folks to consider
for your Purpose Team are folks who love or care for you, but are not attached to what your purpose looks
like, how it takes shape, but rather these folks support you unconditionally in living a full, happy, healthy and
abundant life.

This distinction is important as those closest to us like our parents, siblings and love partners, may not be
the best choices for our Purpose Team, although they love and support us in many ways. Often people in
our inner circle have some kind of attachment to what our purpose looks like, specifically the money we
may earn from realizing it, or the time and money required to realize it. Additionally, they may be threatened
by the very idea of anyone living an aligned life of purpose, as your doing so means that purpose is also a
possibility for them (gasp!). This can be intimidating, as they may create the meaning that your choice in
living purposefully implies that they are bad people for not doing so.

While these people are important to you for the many and various reasons, it is wisest to include people in
your Purpose Team who are encouraging, curious, accepting and positive. Think hard and deliberately at
this step about including anyone who may be judgemental, negative or resistant to you making changes
in your life, in living your purpose fully. These folks in your inner circle that give you resistance, judgement
or negativity will need to be included later, but for now, in the early stages, you need to keep your purpose
safe, keep the evolution of your purpose in a secure protected environment.

Much as you keep a child from wandering into traffic, or stake off and weed a seedling, your purpose also
needs attention, safety and care in the early stages. List these five people with this in mind. They might not
even be that involved in your daily life, perhaps they are cousins, or old friends from childhood or school. What
is essential is that these five people share at least one quality: their unconditional love and support for you.

6
PURPOSE Activation Blueprint

List the 5 people here

2. ____________________________________

3. ____________________________________

4. ____________________________________

5. ____________________________________

Now that you have your Purpose Team filled with 5 supportive people, you need to reach out to them with a
specific request. The second part of this exercise is to arrange a 30 minutes conversation with each of them
where you will do the following:

1. Describe this Purpose Activation Blueprint process youre doing

2. Tell them why you care about finding and living a life of purpose
3. Share your new purpose statement
4. Ask explicitly for their help in supporting you on this path of living purposefully by...
Giving support and constructive feedback
Collaborating to generate creative ideas
Assisting you in making stretches and keeping you accountable

Be sure to thank them for their support and help and tell them that youll be in touch soon to share more
details. Congratulations, you are now 50% of the way through the Purpose Activation Blueprint. With your
Purpose Team in place you are ready to take aim with your Purpose!

7
PURPOSE Activation Blueprint

Connect Your Purpose to Serving Others

This step is about identifying a cause or group of people you most want to connect with and serve with your
purpose. Have a look at your list of things that break your heart from the purpose discovery exercise you
completed in Step 1. (If you skipped the audio exercise, go back and listen to it now)

Identifying Service Groups

Open a new page in your journal and make a list of the three groups of people or causes from your
heartbreak exercise that you feel most connected to, then rank each group on 3 things: the strength of your
empathy with that cause or group of people; the relevance of your gifts to this group or cause; and your
degree of relationship with people and organizations that serve or represent those affected. Rate these
below on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being highest or strongest, then tally up the totals.

Example
Group or Cause Empathy Gift Relevance Relationship Total
War Veterans 5 5 4 14
Obese 4 3 1 8
Homeless 5 1 1 7

My Potential Service Groups

Group or Cause Empathy Gift Relevance Relationship Total

____________________ ___ ___ ___ ___

____________________ ___ ___ ___ ___

____________________ ___ ___ ___ ___

Once you have your totals, you will have a clearer picture of where you may choose to direct your purpose,
in the form of a group or community to serve. You are not limited to only one of these, but for simplicity
choose one for the moment.

8
PURPOSE Activation Blueprint

Generating Possible Actions

The second step is to brainstorm at least 10 ways you can help this group, e.g. War veterans: 1-on-1
counseling, blog exploring issues they face, free workshop, video series, quiz, PTSD e-book, exercises,
inspiring shirt, framed inspiring quotes, community event celebrating service men and women.

From this list, rank the projects on a scale of 1 to 5, according to how little time and effort they will take (5
is least amount of time and effort) AND the quality and quantity of information, about yourself, about your
purpose, and about your target group (5 is most amount and quality of information). This is your Purpose
Project, the perfect combination of your empathy, your gifts, and your relationships.

PURPOSE Activation Blueprint

Put Your Purpose into Action

The final and most important step in activating your purpose is Action. Now that you have identified your
purpose, your support team, and the group you can serve it is time to combine all 3 into your Purpose Project.

Creating Your Purpose Project

Your Purpose Project is a specific project you choose that arises out of your work on your purpose statement.
It is a defined, achievable and exciting project that you take on over the next 30-60 days with the support of
your Purpose Team. It is important to choose something that matters to you and potentially meets a need
in the world, as well as something that has a concrete, tangible outcome so you will know that you have
accomplished what you set out to do.

Working with your Purpose Team as necessary, list and describe 3 possible project ideas that feel aligned
with your purpose statement and service group. You can reference the ideas you came up with in the
exercise at the end of Step 3.

Project Idea #1

___________________________________________________________________

Project Idea #2

___________________________________________________________________
___________________________________________________________________

Project Idea #3
___________________________________________________________________
___________________________________________________________________

PURPOSE Activation Blueprint

Now review your project list, check in with yourself and look for the one that is most aligned with your
purpose, brings up the most passion and excitement in you, and most calls you into action!

List your top Purpose Project here:

___________________________________________________________________
___________________________________________________________________
___________________________________________________________________

Define what success looks like for this project (when its complete):
___________________________________________________________________
___________________________________________________________________
___________________________________________________________________

Your Purpose Plan (high-level):

___________________________________________________________________
___________________________________________________________________
___________________________________________________________________

List the first three to five meaningful Action Steps that you can commit to taking on and completing in the
next 30-60 days. List the action step itself, any factors that relate to the measurement of success for this
action, and the due date.
1. _________________________________________________________________
2. _________________________________________________________________
3. _________________________________________________________________
4. _________________________________________________________________
5. _________________________________________________________________
Now you get to make the below statement powerfully:
I am making an extraordinary and meaningful difference in my life and in the lives
of others by. living my purpose [name it here]; and leading this [ project name].

Congratulations, you are on the path to living purpose!

11
PURPOSE Activation Blueprint

Next Steps:
Now that you have your purpose statement, your purpose team, and your purpose project, you are ready
to live your life of purpose and take on the world!

All things purposeful and truthful will be risky, so expect that you will encounter resistance to completing
your purpose project. Fear will come up. You will find yourself making up all sorts of excuses not to act.
You will doubt yourself, the validity of of your purpose, even the existence of such a thing as purpose. This
is resistance, and its normal.

Resistance is any difference between what you want to do and what you do in any moment. It is neither
good nor bad, merely a sign that you are growing, pushing yourself out of your comfort zone.

No man is an island, so be prepared to ask for help when you experience resistance. When resistance
comes up, you cannot white knuckle it. You cannot go it alone - you will need help. Here are some
strategies to explore when you find yourself stuck, unable to move forward with your purpose project:

1. Pick somebody from your purpose team or hire a purpose coach to help you
work through it. Tell them that you are stuck and that you need help finding a way
through.

2. Find a mens (or womens) circle, or a co-gendered circle, where you can get
regular support from other people committed to live purposeful lives

3. Dive deeper into your life of purpose and learn strategies to overcome resistance
with a purpose course, such as the Man on Purpose Course, a 7-week LIVE online
course, that gives you proven strategies to live your purpose in all areas of life and
blast through resistance as it occurs.

Transcript of the 30 Minute Purpose Discovery Audio Exercise
(see page 5 for link to Audio)

Welcome to the Purpose Triangle Exercise.

The goal of this exercise is to help you create your purpose statement. So whats going to happen over the
next 30 minutes is Im going to guide you through this 10-step writing process to deliver you your purpose
statement. So how do we get there? Were going to build this purpose triangle by focusing on each of the
three parts, and every purpose statement has elements of these three parts.

The first element is our Essence. The second is our Gifts, and the third is our Mission. So Essence, these
are the qualities of our being how we and others describe us. These are words that could be like kind,
or curious, creative, playful, intelligent, visionary, productive, compassionate, loving, brave. These are
descriptors of who we are and who we know ourselves to be. We express these qualities naturally and
effortlessly. Although over time, we can consciously amplify them as we grow in life. Thats the first piece.
Thats our Essence.

The second piece is our Gifts. These are our natural abilities, our acquired skills, the expressions of Essence
that bring us joy. Make us feel alive. Theyre also of great value to us and benefit to others when we give
them. These are the ways we transform the world, such as teaching, or healing, or listening, or creating, or
playing, building, and protecting, providing. These are active things that we do that make us feel alive. Now
the beautiful thing about Gifts is that they only increase over time. As we learn more, we develop more
mastery, and cultivate new skills, new levels of our Gifts emerge.

The last piece is the most active component of our purpose. That is our Mission. So this is the direction
in which our Essence and Gifts are applied. So were going to channel our Essence and Gifts to positively
affect an outcome. This could be for other people. This could be for the planet. This could be an act of
creative service, or art.

Mission requires two components. So the first is Vision. We need to know where were going, and the
second is Action. So we have to do something. So in order to navigate the world, we must have a Vision for
what it currently is, and what it could be. And to move forward, we must focus our Essence and Gifts, and
channel them into a definite and concrete plan of Action.

So for example, Gandhi was a man of Action. He dwelled in his Essence. He used his Gifts, and he applied
them for his Mission. So his Essence, as I understand him, is non-violence. Its courage and love. His Gifts,
again as I understand him, are his speaking, his oratory, his Vision. And his Mission, quite literally, was to
liberate India from British-colonial rule using non-violent means. So Gandhi was able to take all three of
these pieces, unite them, and affect massive change for an incredible number of people.

So what this purpose triangle does, is it allows us to understand each of these three areas. Put them

13
PURPOSE Activation Blueprint

together, and will allow us to work with it and refine it. So before we get started, Im going to ask you to start
and stop the recording a number of times throughout the exercise. Now would be a good time also to find a
quiet place where you can relax and do some writing. So what youre going to need in addition to this quiet
place is a single piece of 8 by 11 paper, and something to write with.

[pause to get materials]

Youre going to take this paper and divide it into three sections. Now, before we start to write anything
down, before we start to explore this purpose triangle, I want to acknowledge a presence in the room - and
this is your critic. That is the part of you that is analytical. That wants to keep you safe. That wants to diminish
potential new opportunities, new ways of being.

This is, essentially, the no-function or the voice of judgment that you might have. That is a very healthy and
important part of who you are because it keeps us from walking on into traffic and drinking Draino. But it
also can be a hindrance, especially if we want to create something new. So for the time being, we want to
thank your critic. Say, I realize your life of tireless service is valuable to me, but I also want to invite you to
take a break. Ill pick you up at the end of this exercise.

What this does is it creates the space for you to more naturally and effortlessly self-express because you
know that all thats going to happen in the next 30 minutes is your pen moving on paper. Your decisions are
going to be made. Nothing is going to be made public. All that is youre going to be doing is writing on a
piece of . Your critic can come back at the end of the exercise, and it will tell you, Its great. Or tell you, Its
terrible.

So now that the critic is on holiday, I want you to sit in a chair with a straight spine with your feet on the
floor. Bringing your awareness to your breath. Track the inhale as your stomach expands, and exhale as it
contracts. So in this manner, Id like you to continue to bring awareness to your breath. Youre going to do
this for two minutes. So right now, pause the audio, and just watch your breath for two minutes. Resume
after your two minutes of breath meditation is over.

[two minute pause]

So the second step of this process now that weve grounded ourselves. Weve got our materials, our paper,
our pen, is to write down 10 activities that bring us joy. These are things that make us feel alive, that make
us feel unified with the moment, things that just bring us alive. And whats important is that, given that
the critic is on holiday, is that we write them down as quickly as possible, so that we dont give the critic a
chance to jump in. So youre going to write down 10 activities, moving your pen as fast as you possibly can,
of things that bring you joy.

Now these can be creative activities. They can be service activities. They can be hobbies. They can be times
family. They can be intimate activities. The only thing thats important is you write them down right now as
fast as possible. Now press pause, and resume after you have your 10 activities.

[pause]

14
PURPOSE Activation Blueprint

So I want you to imagine that this is the third step. I want you to imagine that youve just woken up, and
theres nothing that you have to do today. All of your relationships are in good standing. Your bank account
is fuller than youve ever known it. You have no outstanding debts.

Nobody wants something out of you that you dont want to give them. There are simply no have-tos. You
dont have to do anything today. And from this place, I want you to imagine what it feels like to choose what
your day looks like. You might be able to do one or two of the activities that youve just written down, or
maybe even all 10.

And that for everyday after this, you have that same experience in the morning where you wake up,
everything is taken care of, everyone who is depending on you is happy, and all that is necessary is for you
to plan your day in accordance with your deepest desires. So I want you to think about what that feels like.
What does it feel like to know that you can have the day that you want? You can do the things that you love
to do, and you can be the type of person that you are most naturally and effortlessly, and be with the people
that bring you alive, that you love. So from this place, I want you to write down 10 descriptors, 10 ways that
you would describe this feeling.

Is it free? Is it connected? Is it creative? Is it loving? Is it caring?

What are the qualities of your consciousness that emerge when you know that this is your life, and that you
can envision yourself experiencing as youre doing all of these activities that bring you alive. So what are the
ways that you describe your feelings? What is the quality of your consciousness? How would you describe
your experience? So again, to make sure the critic stays on vacation, youre going to have to write these 10
words as fast as you possibly can. As soon as you have 10, please resume this recording.

[pause and write ten descriptors of your feelings]

Now the fourth step, this is a slightly different approach. The fourth step, we are going to explore all the
things that break your heart, all the things in the world, in your life, in your community, in your family that
make you feel really sad or really angry. So all of us have had the experiences by either being isolated, or
being rejected, or being unseen, or being treated unfairly, or being neglected, or having lost something, or
being fearful of losing something. And, what I want you to do is find which of those heartbreak moments are
most alive for you.

What are the 10 things that break your heart? Now again, these can be things that are in your life. These can
be things in your family, like the suffering of love ones. These can be things in your community, the suffering
of those who are disadvantaged. Or these can be the broader global issues, broader causes like climate
change, or racism, or exploitation, or war.

So we want to really get to the core of what it is that makes you sad and angry, what evokes the most
powerful emotions that you know that if you were king of the world or queen of the world that you would
immediately wipe away. These are things that just affect you personally, and that you are ready to get rid of.
So again, just like before, youre going to write these 10 things that break your heart as fast as you possibly
can, so the critic can stay safely outside of this exercise. As soon as you have your 10 points of heartbreak,
resume this recording.

15
PURPOSE Activation Blueprint

[pause to write 10 things that break your heart]

So the fifth step is to connect all of these realms together. Were going to connect your activities, your
optimal being states, and the communities causes or points of heartbreak that make you feel most deeply.
I want you to look at each list of 10 that you have and circle the three where theres the biggest buzz, so
where like the three words or phrases that somatically resonate with you the most. So these are going to be
the things that you feel that they are different than the other ones, or maybe encompass broader things, or
reflect a deeper truth about who you are, or about what your Gifts are, or what you care about in the world.
So press pause, and resume when you have three phrases or words circled from each of these three areas. In
total, youre going to have nine phrases or words circled.

[pause to circle your 9 phrases, 3 from each of the preceding steps]

So step six is visuaization, a way to take these three realms and connect them visually. So I ask you to flip
your paper and draw a large equilateral triangle. Its a big, big triangle, as big as the paper. In each of the
corners, I want you to write a word. So inside one corner, I want you to write the word Be, in the second
corner the word Give, and then the corner Do.

Now, flip your paper over, and have a look at what you circled from your activities, from your states of
consciousness, and from the things that break your heart. Around each corner, I want you to write the
corresponding words. So around Be, I want you to write the three qualities of consciousness that most
deeply resonated with you. Around the word Give, I want you to write the three activities or talents that
most deeply resonated with you. And around the word Do, I want you to write the three things that most
break your heart.

So now that we have a deeper sense of our Essence, our Gifts, and our Mission, were going to connect
these into a singular purpose statement. But before we find one, were going to explore this format a little
bit. So the seventh step is to write out our purpose statements. I mean were going to write five possible
purpose statements that draw on either these exact of what youve just written in your purpose triangle or
something related to it.

And, so the format of your purpose statement is I am blank , some word that describes your being,
who does something , some word that describes your gifts those things that bring you alive, and then
to do what, to affect some sort of change for some community. So these are things that break your
heart. So each purpose are going to have each of these components. So Id like you to write out five possible
purpose statements. And as soon as youre finished, resume this recording.

So the eighth step is to read each of these five purpose statements aloud. And, what you want to do is read
them aloud slowly to yourself. And, take a little pause of about five seconds in between each. And then,
circle the one that is the most powerful. So, this is again is one that most deeply resonates with you that
feels like it speaks about most of who you are as a person. So press pause, and as soon as you have your
purpose statements circled, resume.

So the ninth step here is that we need to acknowledge that our purpose evolves over time, and that it has
evolved since we were little, and will continue to evolve until we die. And even this initial purpose statement
will evolve. It will continue to evolve in just a matter of a couple of days. Thats what were going to explore
now. So we want to refine this a little bit. So were going to take this initial purpose statement that you just
circled, and I need you to commit to rewriting it once a day for seven days.

So how do you do this? You look at your purpose triangle every morning or some time during the day. Youre
going to look at your purpose triangle. Youre going to look at your five potential purpose statements, and
youre going to read the statement that you selected. After you read the statement youve selected, sit with it
for 10 seconds, and then rewrite that exact same statement.

However, you may want to add more words, or remove some, or replace some, or simplify the statement if
necessary. So youre going to rewrite the statement, but youre going to change it a little bit to really feel
into it a little bit more deeply than you did the previous day. Now youre going to repeat this for each of
the next six days. So every morning you wake up, you review your purpose triangle, review your previous
purpose statements, and then rewrite the most recent one, adding words, removing them, replacing them,
or simplifying them as necessary.

So the tenth and final step, and this is where the rubber meets the road, is to actually use our statement.
So after weve done the whole week of rewriting a purpose statement, were going to use it to bring more
clarity to an area of concern in our lives. So I would like you to take a decision that youre facing, someplace
where you dont have a lot of clarity, and write down on a piece of paper all the pros and cons. So this might
be a short list of like three pros and cons, or it could be a long list of, say, 20 pros and cons. Depending on
the decision, youll know how many to list.

And then, read your purpose statement again. And then, feel which choice is most aligned with your lifes
purpose. My gut is that youll feel this. That as soon as you say yes or no, there will be kind of a deep tingle or
deep somatic resonance. And, that this is the power and utility of a purpose statement.

Just some warning, often this is the most difficult and uncomfortable choice. Meaning this choice, the one
that most resonates with your purpose statement, will likely require you to act in a brand new way, or at
least in an uncomfortable way.

Id like to congratulate you that you are now the proud owner of a purpose statement, one that works, one
that you can now use to bring into your life, to bring yourself into greater alignment. You can now start to
make decisions in your career, in your love life, in your family, in your community, and with your own health
and well being to live in greater alignment. Now, this is the only the beginning of living a life of purpose.

Living a life of purpose also requires that we understand the places in our lives that we are out of alignment,
so the places that we can benefit from using our purpose statement. So thats the first piece, and then we
also need to build a support network. So people who are also committed to us living powerfully, to being
happy, to living with purpose, and then we need to create a cohesive plan to bring our health, and careers,
relationships into alignment, and act on these necessary areas. I want to thank you for creating your purpose
statement, and beginning the journey to living a full powerful aligned life.
