SUBJECT: Consideration of the adoption of a resolution accepting a donation for Indoor Forest
Theater Flooring

RECOMMENDATION

Adopt a resolution accepting a donation for new hardwood flooring in the lobby of the Indoor Forest Theater
with an approximate value of $4,000.

BACKGROUND / SUMMARY

Representatives of the Pacific Repertory Theatre have obtained quotes to install hardwood flooring in the lobby
of the Indoor Forest Theater. The Pacific Repertory Theatre is now graciously offering to donate the cost of the
flooring, estimated to be $4,000, to the City of Carmel. The lobby of the Indoor Forest Theater is currently
leased to Pacific Repertory Theaters School of Dramatic Arts.

Upon Councils acceptance of this donation, staff will schedule the installation of the flooring with an on-call
contractor. The new flooring will have a 25-year warranty.

FISCAL IMPACT

This project will be funded entirely by private donations.

RESOLUTION NO. 2017-

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA ACCEPTING A

DONATION FOR NEW HARDWOOD FLOORING IN THE AMOUNT OF $4,000.

WHEREAS, City Policy No. C89-41, Acceptance of Donations and Gifts to the City, was revised by
Resolution 2005-14 which requires that donations with a value of $1,000 or more be accepted by Council
through resolution; and,

WHEREAS, the Board of the Pacific Repertory Theatre is graciously offering to donate the cost of new
hardwood flooring for the lobby of the Citys Indoor Forest Theater; and,

WHEREAS, the total amount of donation is valued at $4,000.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL-BY-
THE-SEA DOES HEREBY:

Approve a resolution accepting a donation of approximately $4,000 from the Pacific Repertory Theater
to fund the Citys installation of new hardwood flooring in the lobby of the Indoor Forest Theatre.
