Abstract:

We study the of mosquito collections by yeast-generated CO2 traps. Each one set up a trap door in
District 08 Petemon Surabaya, Indonesia, conducted a regular survey from March 2005 until April
2005. As a result, 66 female and 175 male of Aedes aegypti and 337 female and 247 male of
Cx.quinquefasciatus. One day as the population density of traps in adult Aedes aegypti in dengue
endemic areas of 0.40 was obtained in females.
Cx.quinquefasciatus population density of one trap per day and females was 0.77. The amount of
sugar in yeast and the current standard are found to be effective to attract the adult mosquito biting
indoors for three days after installation. Compared with the results collected by sweep net sampling
was conducted in parallel with the trap in March 2005, the collection trap was suggested to be
effective in determining whether a species occurs when the mosquito density is low, especially.
Using the Tropical Disease Center, Airlangga University building, four sites of different heights from
the ground (1.5,4.5,7.5 and 9m) of mosquitoes were performed with CO2 traps the yeast
fermentation. Total of 19 heads were captured and seven Cx.quinquefasciatus mosquitoes.
Cx.quinquefasciatus is the head of the entire 82 percent of 156 occupied. Highest position (9m) were
collected in traps were installed in only two of Culex quinquefasciatus and Shirohashiieka. The total
number of mosquitoes caught in trap height and location showed an obvious inverse relationship.
