Typical conventions of a music

video
From what I have researched I have found that these are the typical
aspects of music videos:

Camera shots
Music videos tend to use a small variety of long shots and close ups and mid shots. This is
to create emphasis on the artist and their emotions but also locations. Close ups can be
used with emotions and tend to be used when the audio closely matches the video and
characters.

Camera movement
Ive often found that a lot of shots are filmed in slow motion when they're not of the artist
singing/lip syncing. However tilts, pans, tracking and crane shots are also used.

Lighting
The lighting often is a good way to get a feel for the song. This is because when at a sad
part of the song low key lighting is used but at happier stages or stages with more beat high
key lighting is used.

Mise en scene
I found that this virtually entirely relies on what the song is about but is used as an effective
way of getting this image across to the viewers.

Sound
This is usually just the song and the video is silent if the artist is not singing in it. However in
some music videos where a short film is being presented then their is often sound effects
like gunshots to make a more realistic feel to it. Furthermore voice overs can be included like
news reporters etc this gives the same outcome of a more cinematic production.
