Narrative Essay

Mahatma Gandhi once said, You must be the change you wish to see in the world.
Many of us have grown up with this famous quote but not many know the story behind the
saying. Being the prominent leader of India, there were many Indian citizens seeking to visit him
and receive his valuable advice. That includes one young mother with her son queued up waiting
for their turn. After a couple of hour, they turned up in front of Mahatma and were discussing on
sugar consumption in daily life. Mahatma then asked them politely to come back visit him after
two weeks. A young mother and her son got disappointed with what they just heard and made
their way to return home.

A promising day had arrived. They again queued up to visit Mahatma. When it came to
their turn, a young mother then asked for the reason on why they need to return home last time.
Mahatma with a bright smile said to her little son, Last time, I was eating sugar too. I practice to
eliminate sweets in two weeks, after then Im ready to meet your mom.

This story teaches us a great lesson that lets our moment be an example of what we
counsel and our action is the reflection of what we believe.
