Legend Of Tanabata

Orihime ( , Weaving Princess) was the daughter of Tentei (, Heavenly King).

Orihime wove splendid fabrics on the banks of the Milky Way ( ,
Amanogawa). Her father loved her fabrics, and she worked hard day after day to get
them ready.
However, one day Orihime met an ox herder called Hikoboshi ( ), who lived on
the other side of the Amanogawa and who also devoted himself entirely to his work.
As soon as they saw each other, they immediately fell in love and soon married, to
the happiness of the king of the heavens.
After marrying and starting to live together, both neglected their respective labors.
Which angered Tentei.
As punishment, the king of heaven decided to separate the two lovers, one on each
side of the Amanogawa, and forbade them to see each other again.
Orihime, very saddened by the loss of her husband, begged her father in tears to
forgive her and allow them to see each other again, and I tried, touched, promised
that she would allow them to meet once a year, the seventh day of the seventh
month.
However, the first time they tried to see each other, Orihime and Hikoboshi realized
that they could not cross the Amanogawa, since there was no bridge. Orihime wept
so much that a flock of magpies came to his aid and promised that they would make
a bridge with their wings so that it could cross the river.
Depending if the weather is good, Because if it's raining, magpies can not come.
This is why, every year, the seventh day of the seventh month (that is, the night of
July 7), the festival of Tanabata is commemorated in memory of these two lovers
(represented by the stars Vega and Altair, each located To one side of the Milky
Way), that only on that day of the year, and if the weather is good and it does not
rain, they can see each other again.
