Policy for

Delayed Start Students on

Continuity Clinic Clerkship
Delayed start students will have 16 full weeks during their 6-month
primary care block in which to complete the CCC requirement.
It is imperative that all students contact their assigned preceptor
immediately to begin scheduling their weekly clinic half days so as
not to fall behind on their clerkship attendance requirement.
A minimum of 15 half-day clinic sessions must be completed to
satisfy the attendance requirement. This allows for one week of an
unexcused absence for initiation of scheduling, illness, scheduling
conflicts, or preceptor vacations.
Students attend the same day every week until the end of the
semester to optimize continuity.
Students are excused from their primary rotation to attend CCC each
week
Students are never to attend CCC during a required orientation for
their primary clerkship.
With the agreement of their preceptor, students may switch their
clinic day during a week where there is a scheduling conflict with
an exam/study day, orientation for their primary clerkship, or a
preceptor absence.
Students may work with their preceptors partner for a session or
two if he/she will be away from clinic.
Students MAY NOT double up and do two sessions in a given week to
catch up, unless the preceptor offers a Saturday clinic during a week
when students are not working the weekend for their primary
rotation, or an evening session.
Students are expected to complete all requirements of this core
rotation during the primary care block and prior to starting the
surgical block.
Mid Clerkship Evaluations will be expected during the last week of
October (block 1) or April (block 2)
