3. Nature of Event:
Unit tripped on Condenser Pressure very High as all running CCW Pumps tripped due to DC control supply failure
(Electrical Problem)
+. Name of First Up, Main Protections & protection on which GCB tripped:
Turbine tripped on "Condenser Pressure Very High", boiler hand tripped, Generator tripped on reverse power
orotection.
5 A) Obseruations :-
Unit was running with 380 MW load. All running CCW pumps tripped due to fatlure of DC supply & closure of
Butterfly valve of running CCW pumps. Condenser pressure increased & unit tripped on Condenser Pressure very
High.

5 B) Remedial Action/work done
Control supply for Unit-S CCW pumps was ready from last incidence, those cables restored & DC supply charged
from Unit-S ODA board & supply normalised.
6. Root Cause Analysis:-
DC supply
CCW DC control supply was extended temporarily from Unit-6 after same incidence on 17-11-2015, Unit-6
found open therefore unit-6 HT switchgear control supply & Unit-S DC supply failed
cable checked from both end and
causing closure of Butterfly valve of running CCW pumps. Condenser pressure increased & unit tripped on Condenser
Pressure very High.

Z Preventive action suggested (Shoft Term) :- Nil

E. preventive action suggested (Long Term) :-

loc *rr.u extention from unit-S to Unit-6 & vice versa for immediate restoration of DC supply in case of failure of
lnormal DC suoolv made available.
