THE EFFECT OF PROVIDING SOYBEAN SPROUT EXTRACT TOWARDS THE BLOOD PRESSURE OF A
WOMAN POST PARTUM WITH PRE-ECLAMPSIA HEALTH RECORD
ABSTRACT
Background : Hypertension on a woman post partum with pre-eclampsia health record was related to hypoxia
placenta which increased free radical production and caused oxidative stress until deranged endothelium system.
To suppress the oxidative stress, antioxidant was needed. One of the foods which had antioxidant source was
soybean sprout extract.
Objective: To prove the effect of giving soybean sprout extract towards the decrease of blood pressure on a
woman post partum with pre-eclampsia health record.
Method: Quasi experimental pretest-posttest design, the 30 experiment subjects were divided randomly into 3
groups: TETP diet intervention group (A), TETP diet intervention group + soybean sprout 250 cc (B), and TETP
diet intervention group + soybean sprout extract twice 250 cc (C), the intervention was given for 5 days. The blood
pressure measurement was done in the beginning and in the ending. The data analysis was done descriptively
and statistic test chi square, paired t-test, independent t-test, and one way anova.
Result: There was no significant difference to the subject characteristic in the experiment beginning which
included: mothers age and the nutrition status with proportion p>0,05. The TETP diet intervention was given with
soybean sprout extract, effects the decrease of systolic blood pressure (p=0,024). There was meaningless effect
to the TETP diet intervention with soybean sprout extract to the decrease of diastolic blood pressure (p>0,05).
Conclusion: Applying TETP diet with soybean sprout extract 250 cc gave the most effect to the decrease of
systolic blood pressure on a woman post partum with pre-eclampsia health record which had the decrease ()
29,513,006 mmHg in average.
