Principle of Design- Rhythm
Details used: Shirtwaist dress, convertible
collar, three-quarter length cuffed sleeves.
Unique: This dress is designed to dress up a
casual look. It is used for country dancing
and girls that wear it can feel cute and
feminine in a comfortable casual outfit.
Question: This dress shows rhythm through
repetition. The repeating pink lines
throughout the fabric create this principle
in the design. It also shows rhythm through
opposition. The right lines that are created
by the pink and white pattern come
together to create this type of rhythm. It
adds body and texture to the outfit.
Fabric: Batiste, poly/cotton blend. itis a
balanced plain weave. This material is great
for this design by its ight weight,
breathable fabric.Principle of Design ~ Emphasis or Focal Point
Details used: Scalloped neckline, Dirndl like
dress bottom with a fitted top.
Unique: | love the details at the top of the
dress where the lace is placed right on the
skin in the sleeves and neckline.
Question: Emphasis and focal point is
achieved in many different ways in this
black dress design. First, through the color
scheme (accented neutral). The red bow
attracts the eye to the waistline. The
construction of the dress also attracts the
eye to the waistline. The dress is gathered
and tight around the waist and then poofs
out.
Fabric: Rashel Knit Lace. Made from
polyester and some elastic. itis a warp knit.
This fabric gives the design a classy lo:
use of the holes in the fabric it makes
the design complete.\ciple of Design — Asymmetrical Balance
Details used: Jewel neckline, three-quarter
length sleeves, combination of a straight
and swooped skirt
Unique-| think the combination of @ classy
asymmetrical shirt and a casual striped shirt
‘complements each other well
Question: Asymmetrical balance is achieved
through the skirt. Ifthe skirt was spit down
the middle one side is different from the
other. This creates asymmetrical balance
because it does not have a mirror effect.
Fabric: name- guilty pleasure. Itis a woven
fabric made from 75% Linen and 25:
This fabric is great for this skirt because of
its soft hand, great luster and ability to
drape well.Element of Design ~ Accented Neutral
"Details used: short fitted jacket, darts,
cuffed three-quarter length sleeves. Skinny
jeans, hip huggers. Jewel neckline
Unique: the combination of the stylish
jacket and the comfortable shirt and jeans
makes a unique classy causal look.
Question: Neutral colors white, Gray and
Black are accented with a bright blue. This
combination makes the blue pop and stand
out in the design.
Fabric: This fabric looks like leather but is
actually made of nylon. The name of the
fabric is Slither. Itis a synthetic man-made
fiber. Texture- soft and slightly bumpy.
Great luster. This fabric is great for the
design because the luster of the fabric
contrasts well with the softer hand of the
white cotton top and denim jeans.Element of Design- Curved Structural Lines
* Details used: Sheath dress, Jewel neckline
and three-quarter length sleeve:
Unique: | think that the lines in this dress
are unique because of how it draws your
eye to the curves of the body.
Question: Curved lines are the predominant
lines in this design. The line is made
between the black and textured fabric. It
outlines the body shape of the person wi
wears this dress, thus accentuating her
curves.
Fabric: This is a Brocade fabric. itis made of
synthetic fibers (Nylon, metalic and
polyester). It is @ Jaquard weave. This works
great for this design because it’s tight
weave makes for a good sturdy looking
dress. It does not drape well which is great
to make the curved structural lines[[Gotor Scheme | Times Balance Emphasis | Rhy
