Principle of Design- Rhythm Details used: Shirtwaist dress, convertible collar, three-quarter length cuffed sleeves. Unique: This dress is designed to dress up a casual look. It is used for country dancing and girls that wear it can feel cute and feminine in a comfortable casual outfit. Question: This dress shows rhythm through repetition. The repeating pink lines throughout the fabric create this principle in the design. It also shows rhythm through opposition. The right lines that are created by the pink and white pattern come together to create this type of rhythm. It adds body and texture to the outfit. Fabric: Batiste, poly/cotton blend. itis a balanced plain weave. This material is great for this design by its ight weight, breathable fabric. Principle of Design ~ Emphasis or Focal Point Details used: Scalloped neckline, Dirndl like dress bottom with a fitted top. Unique: | love the details at the top of the dress where the lace is placed right on the skin in the sleeves and neckline. Question: Emphasis and focal point is achieved in many different ways in this black dress design. First, through the color scheme (accented neutral). The red bow attracts the eye to the waistline. The construction of the dress also attracts the eye to the waistline. The dress is gathered and tight around the waist and then poofs out. Fabric: Rashel Knit Lace. Made from polyester and some elastic. itis a warp knit. This fabric gives the design a classy lo: use of the holes in the fabric it makes the design complete. \ciple of Design — Asymmetrical Balance Details used: Jewel neckline, three-quarter length sleeves, combination of a straight and swooped skirt Unique-| think the combination of @ classy asymmetrical shirt and a casual striped shirt ‘complements each other well Question: Asymmetrical balance is achieved through the skirt. Ifthe skirt was spit down the middle one side is different from the other. This creates asymmetrical balance because it does not have a mirror effect. Fabric: name- guilty pleasure. Itis a woven fabric made from 75% Linen and 25: This fabric is great for this skirt because of its soft hand, great luster and ability to drape well. Element of Design ~ Accented Neutral "Details used: short fitted jacket, darts, cuffed three-quarter length sleeves. Skinny jeans, hip huggers. Jewel neckline Unique: the combination of the stylish jacket and the comfortable shirt and jeans makes a unique classy causal look. Question: Neutral colors white, Gray and Black are accented with a bright blue. This combination makes the blue pop and stand out in the design. Fabric: This fabric looks like leather but is actually made of nylon. The name of the fabric is Slither. Itis a synthetic man-made fiber. Texture- soft and slightly bumpy. Great luster. This fabric is great for the design because the luster of the fabric contrasts well with the softer hand of the white cotton top and denim jeans. Element of Design- Curved Structural Lines * Details used: Sheath dress, Jewel neckline and three-quarter length sleeve: Unique: | think that the lines in this dress are unique because of how it draws your eye to the curves of the body. Question: Curved lines are the predominant lines in this design. The line is made between the black and textured fabric. It outlines the body shape of the person wi wears this dress, thus accentuating her curves. Fabric: This is a Brocade fabric. itis made of synthetic fibers (Nylon, metalic and polyester). It is @ Jaquard weave. This works great for this design because it’s tight weave makes for a good sturdy looking dress.
