1. What new skills, procedures, or work issues did you learn from your work these two weeks?
SKILLS/PROCEDURES
During these weeks I had learned more about the organizational structure. I learned that PBS Guam is operated by both
government and private sector. This happened because both the local government and grants fund that station. I had the
opportunity to sit in a client meeting from the Guam Museum Foundation. The meeting was for a promotional video to
showcase the feature of the museum. Going in depth with procuring for the station, it is vital to acquire three quotes which is
then approved by the administration office. During these two weeks I had the chance to work on my production and studio
skills. I helped Kelsey with a voice over for the Kids Summer Breakfast Festival Thank You promotional. Tess also introduced
me to a few of her clients and sponsors for certain events. I talked with her about the various sponsorship packages and how
much they differ in cost and what those packages have to offer. Tess and I also went on the road, to make payments,
receiving in kind donations and to shoot spots for upcoming promotions.
WORK ISSUES
The only difficulty that I had come across was waiting for sponsors to commit to our Liberation Day packages so that I could
meet a submission deadline to a t shirt vendor.
2. Which skills did you work and improve upon these two weeks (and gained competency)?
Production wise, I learned camera angles, and tips on the editing software.
Graphic wise, I had to figure out how to deal with low quality logo and enlarge them without losing any more quality in the
design.
Marketing wise, I was able to utilize a QR code and put that onto our Liberation Day T Shirt design so that it could be
interactive, I was introduced to live streaming and was taught how to accomplish that using a 4K video camera.
3. What problems at work did you encounter and how did you resolve them?
Again, there were little to no problems at all in my department. The only issue I had during these weeks were waiting on
sponsor confirmation so that I could submit their logos in with the shirt design I and Kelsey had made.
6. Describe the most interesting incident or experience you had these two weeks.
What was interesting, were all the times I had been asked to help production. I can recall that one day, I was tasked with
holding a boom mic (a pole carrying an overhead microphone projected over a film or tv set.) during a promo spot that the
film crew shot in the field. Doing anything in production is exciting.
