Overpumping is an alternate method to pump the storm water collected from various
locations due to a modification or complete rearrangement of existing storm water outfall
system to the outfall location and here at Marsa Al Seef, the storm water been discharged
to Creek.
From Phase 01 & Phase 02 areas, storm water is getting collected within the existing
storm water system (which was removed in relation with the Marsa Al Seef Development)
and if it is not provided with an alternative facility to collect and discharge the water, area
will get flooded, especially in front of US Consulate area and nearby premises.
To avoid such adverse condition, while removing the existing outfall system, need of an
alternative storm water discharge system arisen. After coordinating with relevant Authority
and Engineer, it is instructed to proceed with the over pumping works. DBB instructed
infrastructure Subcontractor to commence with the over pumping works and relevant items
were already been allocated within the Enabling Subcontract Package namely BOQ Item
Ref.3/1/J, 3/1/K, 3/1/L & 3/1/M).
