Page 13 Later this month, Strathmores downtown will re-
ceive a major facelift with a total approved budget
of $1,250,000. The upgrades will include plaza ar-

decorative lighting, planters and greenery, and
new sidewalks as part of the Downtown Enhance-

in the community associated with Strathmores

To save cost and time, the town approved
$500,000 from their Municipal Sustainability Initi-

As a result, construction will occur on 2nd Av-

Two car accidents in less than three
weeks at the intersection of Highways 564
and 840 have triggered residents in Stan-
dard and area to demand change.
Marlene Kuca and Robyn Harms are
leading the efforts with a petition to alter
the intersection in hopes of saving lives.

IS BACK!
People are just ignoring the rumble
strips and going right through the stop
sign, said Kuca. They dont want to slow
down because its harder to get up the hill
on the other side (for big trucks).
The intersection currently has a stop
sign and rumble strips going east-west on
Hwy 564, allowing a free flow of traffic go-
ing north-south on Hwy 840. The petition
proposes several options including a four-
