Time Allowed: 3 Hours Maximum Marks: 100

General Instructions:
(i) This question paper consists of 26 questions divided into three sections A, B & C.
(ii) Section A consists of 6 questions each of 1 mark.
(iii) Section B consists of 13 questions each of 4 marks.
(iv) Section C consists of 7 questions each of 6 marks.
(v) All questions are compulsory.
(vi) There is no overall choice. However, internal choice has been provided in 4
questions of four marks each and 2 questions of six marks each. You have to
attempt only one of the alternatives in all such questions.

SECTION A

1. Let A = {1, 2, 3} and B = {5, 6}. Find the number of possible relations
from A to B. 1

14. Find the equation of the line passing through the point (1, 3) such that the

15. An arch is in the form of a semi-ellipse. It is 8m wide and 2m high at the


centre. Find the height of the arch at a point 1.5m from the end.

Find the equation of the circle whose centre lies on the line x 4y = 1
and which passes through the points ( 3, 7 ) and ( 5, 5). 4

16. Show that the points A (1, 2, 3), B (-1,-2, -1), C (2, 3, 2) and D (4, 7, 6)
are the vertices of a parallelogram ABCD, but it is not a rectangle. 4

18. Coefficients of variation of two distributions are 60 and 75, and their
standard deviations are 18 and 15, respectively. What are their arithmetic

19. A committee of two persons is selected from two men and three women.
What is the probability that the committee will have (a) no man? (b) one
man and one woman?

Four boys and two girls sit in a row at random. Find the probability that
two girls do not sit together. 4

SECTION C

20. In a survey it was found that 21 people liked product A, 26 people liked
product B and 29 people liked product C. If 14 people liked products A
and B, 12 people liked products A and C, 15 people liked products C and
B and 8 liked all the three products. Find how many liked product C only.

26. A lamp post is situated at the middle point M of the side AC of a
triangular plot ABC with BC = 7 m, CA = 8 m and AB = 9 m. Lamp post
subtends an angle 150 at the point B. Determine the height of the lamp
