The graph below shows the consumption of fish and some different kinds of meat in a
European country between 1979 and 2004.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make
comparisons where relevant.

ANSWER:

The chart below illustrates the consumption of four different kinds of meat namely
fish, lamb, beef and chicken in a European country from 1979 to 2004.
Overall, in comparison with lamb, beef, chicken, fish was the least commonly used
food all the time surveyed. In addition, the expenditure on beef, lamb and fish decreased,
while the consumption of chicken witnessed a significant increase.

As shown in the graph, in the year 1979, the amount of beef was the highest, at
about 220 grams per person per week. The figure for chicken and lamb were lower, at about
140 grams and exactly 150 grams respectively. By contrast, fish occupied the lowest
number with only about 60 grams.

Over the period between 1979 and 2004, there was dramatic growth in the
consumption of chicken, which rose to 250 grams eaten. Meanwhile, approximately 100
grams of lamb was used, followed by fish with about 40 grams in 2004. Although beef
reached its highest point, at about 240 grams in 1983, it fell gradually to around 100 grams
by the year 2004.
