Solve each problem.

1. Last week, Omar caught 18 catfish. This week, he caught five more catfish than he
did last week. During the two weeks combined, how many catfish did Omar catch?

2. A.J. dropped a box of toothpicks, spilling 126 of them. He has already picked up
67 of them. How many more toothpicks does A.J. need to pick up?

3. Glenda has twice as many shoes as Dorothy. Jasmine has three times as many
shoes as Dorothy. If Dorothy has nine pairs of shoes, how many pairs of shoes do the
three women have altogether?
4. Kevin is planning a six-day backpacking trip on a portion of the Appalachian Trail.
The hike is 54 miles long and Kevin would like to pace himself to walk an equal number
of miles each day. How many miles should Kevin hike each day?

5. Lalo has been to El Paso 17 fewer times than Clara. If Clara has been to El Paso
51 times, how many times have Lalo and Clara been to El Paso altogether?

6. In the course of one month, the grey cat caught eleven more mice than the black
cat. If together the two cats caught 57 mice in the month, how many mice did the grey
cat catch?
7. Sudan, Kenya, and Chad are three tiger cubs that have a total of 146 stripes.
Kenya has seven more stripes than Sudan. Chad has eight fewer stripes than Sudan.
How many stripes does each of the cubs have?

8. Melissa has 91 coins, some are nickels and the rest are dimes. If the ratio of
nickels to dimes is 4:3, how many nickels does Melissa have? How many dimes does
she have?

9. Of the 1500 students at Lincoln High School, 0.3 of them are seniors. Of the
remaining students, 0.4 are freshmen. How many sophomores and juniors (combined)
attend Lincoln High School?
10. Of the 35 passes that Jacob attempted in Friday nights game, he completed 60%
of them. How many of Jacobs passes were incomplete?

11. Saturday morning, Saul typed 445 words of his report. He typed 3/4 of the
remainder on Sunday morning. If Saul still had 165 words to type on Sunday evening,
how many words were in his report?

12. Laura just drove past three consecutive mile markers on Interstate 40. The sum of
the numbers on the mile markers was 951. Which three mile markers did Laura just
pass?
