METHOD STATEMENT FOR RESTORATION OF MS GRILLE

AREA OF WORK

- Grille area at

EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS BE USED

- paint remover
- Scraper
- Blasting machine (0.8 bar - 2bar)
- Garnet
- Welding plant
- Anti-corrosion paint
- Wood putty

STEPS

Surface preparation

1. Apply a layer of paint remover on the Ornamental grille by using paint brush and wait
for two-hour chemical reaction (paint starts to peel off).
2. Remove the loose paint slowlyby using a spatula without damaging the grille.
3. The remaining paint residue will be removed by paint remover application followed
by the use of a garnet blasting to receive SA 2.5 standard (near white finish)

Grilles to be restored

Repair of damaged areas and dents

 1. After blasting the components that have cracks will be repaired via Metal inert gas
(MIG) wedding process and then will be grinded to have a smoother surface.
2. Surface dents and holes less than 5mm will be patched by putty.

Application of Protective coating.

1. Once the surface preparation is done, primer will be applied on the MS grille soon
with a brush or roller as per product specifications.
2. Once the primer is dry enough, 2nd coating will be applied as per product
specifications.
3. Finally the last coat will be applied as per product specifications. The final colour to
be confirmed by the consultant.
