METHOD STATEMENT FOR PAINT REMOVAL ON DIFFERENT SUBSTRATES
FOR ALL CONSERVATION BLOCKS

2. Methodology for different Substrates
3.1 Plaster Remove the first layer of paint using a scraper if possible before applying the chemical

Apply the paint remover evenly with a brush or roller

Cove the area with a plastic sheet to 1 to 4 hours
Remove the cover and scrap off the paint as much as possible, Apply the second coat of the paint remover and cover it by a plastic sheet for another 1-4 hours. Using the same scarping method peel of the paint and expose the render. If the render is rough and the final residue of paint cannot be peeled off, a pressurized water cleaner will be used to remove the fine layer of paint. 3.2 Wood and Metal Remove the first layer of paint using a scraper if possible before applying the chemical Apply the paint remover evenly with a brush or roller

scarping method peel of the paint. The final paint residue will be removed by a wire brush or sandpaper on plane surface and even deep corners
