METHOD STATEMENT FOR PAINT REMOVAL ON DIFFERENT SUBSTRATES

FOR ALL CONSERVATION BLOCKS

1. Materials to be used
Paint remover,
Brush
Scarper
Water jet

2. Methodology for different Substrates


3.1 Plaster
Remove the first layer of paint using a scraper if possible before applying the
chemical

Apply the paint remover evenly with a brush or roller

Cove the area with a plastic sheet to 1 to 4 hours


Remove the cover and scrap off the paint as much as possible,
Apply the second coat of the paint remover and cover it by a plastic sheet for
another 1-4 hours.
Using the same scarping method peel of the paint and expose the render.
If the render is rough and the final residue of paint cannot be peeled off, a
pressurized water cleaner will be used to remove the fine layer of paint.
3.2 Wood and Metal
Remove the first layer of paint using a scraper if possible before applying the
chemical
Apply the paint remover evenly with a brush or roller

Cove the area with a plastic sheet to 1 to 4 hours


Remove the cover and scrap off the paint as much as possible,

will be removed by a wire brush or
sandpaper on plane surface and even deep corners
