- Mrs Ana, a 80 yearls-old widower, has severe dysphagia.


- history of alzheimer
- lived with her daughter, Maria before hospitalization
- never prepared documents that addressed advance care planning
- treatment team recommended starting the patient on tube feeding.
- daughter indicated that her mother never wanted a feeding tube or other medical
therapies that are painful and prevent her from enjoying simple daily activities.
- her only son, Marias brother wanted her mother to receive nutrition through tubes and
all other medical therapies needed to prolong her life.
