Abstract

The skin of mangosteen fruit (Garcinia mangostana Linn) contain efficacious


flavonoids compounds as a sunscreen. Cream type M/A very liked for easy to use and
easily cleared. Mangosteen rind extract formulated into a cream that each
distinguished concentration is 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.8%, 1.6% and 3.2%.

This research aims to evaluate the value of spf on cream preparation extract
the skin mangosteen. Cream in the evaluation physical properties with some
parameters organoleptis test , the homogeneity, the viscosity, test dispersive power,
pH and irritation test and determined the value of SPF. Each concentration cream is
diluted using 96% ethanol. Cream diluted read the value of the absorbance at UV-Vis
Spectrophotometer instrument then calculated the SPF value.

The results showed that the cream of mangosteen skin xtract has met the
requirements after conducting various quality of cream tests and SPF value. The
concentration of the extract 0.2% cream with SPF included into minimal, while the
cream with a concentration of 0.4% included in SPF medium, and creams with a
concentration of 0.8%, 1.6% and 3.2% belongs to the maximum SPF.
