Part II: Reflection

CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field experience?

While completing the data overview I had to meet with instructional coaches and district
coordinators to gain access and understanding to the data obtained from Ben Hill Primary School
for the past four years. Through this process, I had to learn how to disaggregate the data to
determine comparisons between gender, races, age, grade, etc. While the data, through online
assessments such as STAR and GRASP is compiled in summary reports, it is difficult to compare
assessments when they are not consistent over the period of study. Throughout this field
experience, I learned how design and present data through a screencast that was easy for others to
view and determine the success of the data represented. Through this leadership experience, I was
able to grow in my knowledge and understanding of data, how facilitate the data and make it
easier for others, and how to present data in clear graphs.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you
be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology
facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the
language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)
Knowledge: Completing the data overview required a knowledge of how to read and interpret
summative assessments. I was also required to have a knowledge base of what to include and how
to represent data, in the form of charts and graphs, for review. Finally, it was important that I had
the knowledge of who to interview and meet with in order to obtain access to data for the required
field experience.

Skills: In order to successfully meet this field experience, I had to be able to organize information
in a manner that could be easily read and understood. Besides organizing the information, I had to
write a narrative and complete a screen cast in a clear and concise tone that was easy to follow and
understand to correlate with the data represented in charts and graphs. This field experience also
required people skills as I had to meet and interview several coordinators and coaches to gain
insight and access to the data reports for study.

Dispositions: This field experience required several interviews with current instructional coaches
and two different district level coordinators. It was important that I believed in what I was doing
and that I presented a determined and positive disposition towards creating a presentation of how
improvements can be made and recognize the strengths of the school as represented by data.
Through my enthusiastic approach to gaining insight and meeting to discuss data at any available
time, I presented myself in a manner that opened doors for access and success!

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or
student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?

This field experience impacted school improvement by analyzing areas of weakness and providing
action steps that can be made to ensure that all areas of the school, as determined by online
summative assessment data, are successful. Through analyzing and reporting the data, the
information can be reviewed and placed in the school improvement plan to make steps towards
faculty development and student learning to improve any areas of weakness as supported by the
data. Therefore, through this field experience, I was able to have a direct impact on school
improvement, faculty development, and student learning by understanding and analyzing
important trends and issues of data from four consecutive years of study.
