To drive the "turbine auxiliaries” at appropriate speeds To drive the turbine through its starting devices in the starting process. ‘They are equipped with a hitched oil pump and an overspeed safety mechanism, The gear toothing is of the single hetical type. 1.2, USE AND RUNNING 1.2.4. SHAET 1 4.2.4.4. Normal running Shaft 1 is connected with the gas turbine and drives it, The drive speed depends on the turbine type. 1.2.2. SHAFT 2 1. Shaft 3B This shatt drives the air compressor 1.2.4, SHAFT 4 Shaft 4 drives a lubricating oi! pump on the turbine side, incorporated in the gear casing. On the outboard end, a blower can be coupled. DESCRIPTION OF GEARBOX 2.4, CASING The auxiliary gearbox is made of two grey cast iron parts with a horizontal joint. The parallel axes of the bores receiving shaft bearings 1, 2, 3A and 3B are located in this horizontal joint plane, ‘The lower part of the casing contains ail the oil lubricating piping of the gears. The pump casing at shaft 4 level is incorporated in the lower casing. The baseplate of the casing includes connecting flanges for intake, discharge and return of the lubricating oi ine. 2.2, GEARS 2.2.1. GENERAL ‘Shafts and gears are made of carbon steel and low alloy steel. Teeth are ground. ‘The shafts are housed in smooth bearing shells with anti-friction lining in two parts for shafts 1, 2 and one part for shaft 4. Axial positioning Is provided by two thrust bearings with babbit lined rigid pads. 2.2.2, SHAFT 1 (ITEM 201) 2.2.2, Description Shaff 1 is the driving shaft. Shaft ends The shaft ends are visible. On the output shafts, packings are mounted (ITEMS 213 and 220). 22.23. Drive * During normal running, the turbine drives the shaft through a customer supplied coupling, and the gear (ITEM 202) becornes the driving gear of shaft 2. * On starting, driving is through the starting motor via a customer supolied coupling 2.2.3. SHAFT 2 (ITEM 230) 2.2.3.1. Shaft 2 is driven by shaft 1 Pinion shaft 2 is the transmission pinion. It supports the shrunk-fit wheels (ITEMS 231, 232 and 233) respectively driven by shatt 1. The shaft pinion drives shaft 4 2.2.3.2, Shaft end drive ‘The shalt ends are machined to accommodate the auxiliary devices that the customer may need to connect ‘The covers (ITEM 240) close the shaft ends, which remain inside the casing, 2.2.4, DRIVE SHAFT Ill (NO MOUNTED ) 2.2.4.1. Short shaft 34 (ITEM 245) ‘+ The short shaft carries the shrunk-on wheel (ITEM 246) driven by the driving wheel of shaft 2. ‘+ On the shaft end protruding from the casing, an electromagnetic clutch (ITEM 298) can be mounted. 2.2.8.2, Shot shaft 38 (ITEM 410) = Shaft 38 supports the shrunk-on wheel (ITEM 411) driven by shaft 2. Hollow shaft 38 accommodates quill shaft (ITEM 413) driving a compressor through a sleeve coupling (ITEM 414), 2.2.8. SHAFT 4 (ITEM 455) 2.2.5.1. Shaft 4 supports shrunk-on wheel (ITEM 456) driven by shaft 2. 2.2.5.2. Shaft 4 drives: ‘© on the turbine side, hollow pinion (ITEM 360) of the lube oil pump through the splined end of the quill shaft (ITEM 362). + On the motor side, the shaft end is visible and designed to drive the blower. ‘The shaft is guided by the bearing support (ITEM 465). OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE AUXILIARY UNIT FOR GAS TURBINE [REVISION A FLENDER-GRAFFENSTADEN TYPE : AASIFA PAGE: 6 2.3. LUBE OIL PUMP 2.3.1. PUMP CASING The pump casing is located on a protuberance in the wall of the casing on the turbine side. The inlet, lube oil outlet and oil return flanges are located in the gear casing baseplate and ate to ASA standards. The oi inlet flange for lubricating the gearbox is located on the lateral side beneath the cover (ITEM 508) but, if necessary, can be connected in position (ITEM. 510 of 512). The tapped hole in the center of the cover (ITEM 512) is designed to receive an oil gauge supplied by the customer. 2.3.2. GEARS The pump consists of two helical cut gears (ITEM 360 and 361) turning in the bores of the gear casing to cause the oil to flow. ‘The shaft ends of these pinions are housed in steel shells (ITEMS 355 and 356) which are babbit-ined. ‘These bearing shells are located in the same bores as the pinions. Each pinion is hollow and one of them accommodates the driving pinion (ITEM 362), 2.4. CHARACTERISTICS OF THE BOX (See appendix 01) 2.5, CLEARANCES (see appendix 02) 3, MAINTENANCE 34. 32. GENERAL The auxiliary gearboxes require very little routine maintenance but, should excessive temperature, abnormal noise or oil leaks occur, the cause should be identified and corrected. At yearly intervals, periodic servicing is necessary with inspection of all the active parts of the gears and bearings. COUPLING ~ Check the operation of the coupling, ~ Check the electromagnetic coupling, Check the condition of the ball-bearings on each servicing and replace them after 24,000 hours. ~ Similarly, check the active disks and replace them if necessary OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE AUXILIARY UNIT FOR GAS TURBINE REVISION: A TYPE : AASIFA PAGE: 7 33. 33.4 3.3.2. 3.3.3. 3.3.4. 33.5. ACCESSORIES For complete dismentiing of the auxiiary gearbox, it is first necessary to remove all the accessories in order to proceed as follows: LUnbolt the upper casing (ITEM 1), take out the positioning pins and remove the casing head by placing it on beams. BEARINGS ‘Take off bearing cap (ITEM 18) Remove the upper parts of the other bearings, selting them down carefully. SHAFTS: ‘Toke out the shafts in succession, always beginning at one end. Above all, never remove shaft 2 first ofall Ibis advisable to use hemp ropes to lift the shafts so as to avoid any deterioration of the active surfaces. ‘The wheels (ITEMS 231, 233, 246) have bores, diameter 25, designed to ease their handling ‘The shafts must be lifted horizontally in order not to jam the thrust bearings. To remove shaft 4, first altach the sling to the wheel, then, after unbolting the bearing support (TEM 465), slide the shaft horizontally to clear the pump casing. Then disassemble bearing shell (ITEM 155) by removing it from the shaft end; at this point, it ‘will be possible to lft the shaft to remove it from the casing, PARTICULAR CARE 3.3.5.1. ON DISASSEMBLY All removed parts are to be stored on olean wooden boards to prevent damage to the active parts such as bearings and teeth 3.3.5.2. ON REASSEMBLY Make sure that each element is clean before assembly. Before assembling bearing caps and upper haif-bearing shells, the supporting surfaces of the shafts must be coated with lubricating oil as used for ubricating in general, FLENDER-GRAFFENSTADEN OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE AUXILIARY UNIT FOR GAS TURBINE REVISION : A TYPE : AASIFA PAGE :8 3.3.5.3, 3.3 4 Level 4 priority:** Level 2 priority: * REASSEMBLY OF UPPER CASING © Spread a thin and even film of seating paste (See Note) to the surfaces of the casing seal, covering the holes but keeping approximately 10 mm away from the lubricating groove, + After a few minutes, install the upper casing and the spit pins. » Apply the upper bearing shell cheeks, moving the shafts endwise, ‘+ Tighten the screws diagonally, beginning with the ends nearest the spit pins, by means of a torque wrench with 160 mN torque ‘oad. + Wait one hour, then tighten to 160 mN. + The packings (ITEMS 213 and 220) on output shafts | are to be assembled with a minimum clearance of 0.05 mm, measured on the output shaft ends. 3.3.6. DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY OF OIL PUMP DISASSEMBLY After removing cover {ITEM 350) to liberate the adjusting shims (ITEM 357), it is possible to frst remove external bearing shells (ITEMS 365 and 356), then pinions (ITEMS 368 and 361) from the pump and from the torsion shaft (TEM 362). ASSEMBLY Ensure that the bearing shells are properly positioned in accordance with the lubricating grooves. Although these parts are marked, itis advisable to refer to the assembly drawing When replace bearing shells or pump pinion gears, the adjusting shims (ITEM 357) must be readjusted according to the recommended clearances (See appendix 02). * NOTE: It is preferabie to use sealing compound « HYLOMAR SQ 32 M » but other brands, such as. : PERMATEX, LOCTITE, can also be used 4, ORDERING SPARE PARTS When ordering spare parts, pleases indicate for each order: 1. Orifices are plugged or covered, External machined parts are given a coat of “Houghton Rust Veto film 20" and shaft ends are protected against physical damage. On reaching the final destination, the equipment shall be carefully inspected to detect any damage caused by transportation. The "Rust Veto" internal protection oil applied in the factory before dispatch must be kept until startup and will be eliminated by tube oil flow. 51. The machine should be stored in a dry room without any major temperature variations. NOTE : The manufacturer declines any liability for the consequences of inadequate storage. FOUNDATIONS Foundations shall be built with appropriate stiffness and damping to prevent resonance phenomena. The baseplate of the unit shail be machined flat and parallel to the shafts. Any deformation in the casing due to tightening will affect the teeth contact pattern. Between the foundation surface and the baseplate of the unit, interpose 10 fo 20 mm this shims to provide for any levelling misalignment. INSTALLATION ON SITE: These operations are not included in the manufacturer services, 7A, HANDLING Use the stings and hooks provided on the upper casing, to the exclusion of any other point (pipes, components, etc.) (See APPENDIX 03). MAINTENANCE AND SERVICING OF THE FG AUXILIARY GEARBOXES: 84. GENERAL .
