Hello, today we're going to look at a work breakdown structure.

Very well. Would you like to know how it looks graphically?

I'm going to show you.
I'm going to show you. about the work breakdown structure, as you can see
it is a vertical logical decomposition of the tasks.
Here we have the components level
like in your project
there are 4 components under component 1
I have only broken down component 1 due to time constraints,
the 3 products identified are here
this is an example
and in the case of product 2
I disaggregated it further into work packages
which is the last level of the work breakdown structure.
Very well, we're going to see what situation you are in today.
Very well, congratulations.
Besides having done a very good job on the project charter which was approved
by the board of directors, they have appointed you project manager
now at this time
you have to begin thinking about how to make a management plan for the project
scope
and the breakdown of the work structure will help you.
What inputs do you have to make the work breakdown structure?
First you have
the case with the relevant information
it's very important
that you read the entire case study
because there is information to develop the structure
and you also have the project charter
and remember that this document is also the base,
it is like the project's birth certificate
and with these two documents
you can begin to develop the work breakdown structure.
Fantastic,
so where do we begin?
As I mentioned in the previous tool
pages
5, 6 and 7
contain the results and logical framework matrices
which are perhaps the two most important tools for developing the WBS.
Why?
since they follow the results matrix and the logical framework matrix
it has the vertical logic which enables the WBS to have the same structure,
it doesn't have all the levels of the WBS
but the first levels are there.
OK, and as we referred in the last tool
to the importance of team work even more so
in the WBS
which should reflect the consensus of all those involved or the project
stakeholders
about the scope of work to be done during the project,
therefore knowing that you don't have a team behind you
we have created a partial solution so you only concentrate on those boxes of the
WBS
that have not yet been identified
and for that
you will have a list of work packages
to place in those boxes.
I'll see you in the next module.
