Glogsterlesson
Glogsterlesson
Waynesburg University
Science Standard 3.4.4 D. D. Describe the composition and structure of the universe and the earth’s place in it.
Lesson Objective(s)
(Stated in observable and measurable terms)
After viewing YouTube video and given access to the internet and the Glogster web 2.0 application the student
will be able to create an online poster that includes at least 5 accurate facts along with a title and images graphics
with no more than 1 inaccuracy as measured by teacher review using a rubric.
Assessment Plan
(What will be done to determine if lesson objectives have been met?)
Using information obtained a YouTube video the student will create an online poster that includes 5 accurate
facts about the solar system along with graphics which will be reviewed by the teacher using a rubric.
Materials:
Possible inclusion techniques may include: special seating near teacher, having a peer partner to aid the student
or others depending on the special need of the particular student.
Enrichment Techniques:
Possible enrichment techniques may include: working in groups to create a Jeopardy-like game using
information from each group member or going on a class field trip to a local science museum.
Lesson Differentiation (What modifications/accommodations will be made to ensure that ALL students have access to and are able
to participate in the lesson):
Modifications and accommodations for this lesson would depend on the students in the class. Some possible
modifications may be giving the student the option of creating a traditional poster instead of a Glogster poster if
that student is not able to use the computer, giving the student the option to go back to view the video again at
his/her own pace, or giving the student a folder of graphics to use instead of having to search on their own.
Lesson Presentation
Introduction/Motivational Activities/Anticipatory Set:
“Many of use think of our Planet, Earth, as being a huge place. You may know someone who lives in another
state, or even another country. If you have ever been to visit them you know that it can be a long trip. However,
even though we think of Earth as being a big planet, when we compare it to the rest of outer space we will find
that we make up only a very tiny part of the universe”
Teacher will go around the room monitoring student work. Students will be working independently to create
informative poster.
Closure:
“Today you got the chance to explore the different elements that make up outer space, you were able to find
information and display it for others to see. Tomorrow we will have a chance to view each others’ work and
present our posters to each other!” (The next lesson may consist of students presenting their posters to
classmates and discussing what they learned).
