SRT Lesson Idea
Technology Standard Addressed: 1a.Students articulate and set personal learning goals, develop strategies
leveraging technology to achieve them and reflect on the learning process itself to improve learning
outcomes. 1c. Students use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to
demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways. 7a. Students use digital tools to connect with learners from a
variety of backgrounds and cultures, engaging with them in ways that broaden mutual understanding and
learning.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Before the activity, students will work in pairs to complete a graphic organizer where they learn the names
and functions of cell organelles, the organelles found in plant, animal, and bacterial cells, and how the
structure of cells lends to its function. There will be a brief bit of direct instruction.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
Assess prior knowledge Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) To illuminate common
misconceptions Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) Summative assessment of content knowledge Test preparation
Survey/Poll Discussion starter Homework collection Other (please explain):
Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: (What will the students do? What will the
teacher do? What materials are needed? How long with the activity last?)

Student Response and Assessment Tools
Students will use their graphic organizers to help them answer questions in pairs. The teacher will read the
questions out loud and provide feedback based on student responses. Students will have the opportunity to
ask questions after every an all answers are given for a particular quiz question.
If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
Yes
No
Why or why not?
The Kahoot is meant to be a means of reinforcing what the students have already learned in class. I want
them to know what they missed and got right, because they will keep up with missed questions and write
why they got it wrong.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
Teacher will field questions concerning topics in the activity and students will write a short paragraph about
why they got any questions wrong in the quiz.
How will the data be used?
Student performance data will be kept for this quiz to determine areas that I may need to review with the
class or certain students and to inform differentiation by giving me insights into what learning styles work
better for individual students. Anonymous results will be shared. The students will also use their results to
write a reflection about what they missed and why so they can understand where their thinking erred and I
can understand better how a misconception or incorrect information might have been introduced. This will
only be a formative assessment with a participation gradefull points if the student participated and zero
points if they did not.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
I am trying to find a way to keep the students interested in a topic that they might find otherwise boring. I
hope to learn how to ask better questions and make better student response activities that promote higher-
order thinking skills. I hope it will help students learn by reinforcing content we have already studied, in this
case, and to create interest in the future about a different topic before its covered in class, and to use it as a
means to get feedback of what other activities we do in class.
