Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Prior to the SRT activity, the students would have had a flipped classroom assignment introducing the section
on foods including a tutorial/PowerPoint presentation on essential terms/phrases that correlate to hunger
("I'm hungry/thirsty.", "Is there food/drink?", etc.). Completing the tutorial will then give them access to the
study set on Quizlet where they can begin to study. Along with the tutorial, they must do two different study
activities plus the "test" as homework.

When they arrive in class, we will have a Learn & Experience where we will go over the vocabulary they
should have been introduced to in their flipped classroom with some samples (depending on dietary
restrictions). (15-20 minutes)
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):

Assess prior knowledge Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) To illuminate common
misconceptions Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) Summative assessment of content knowledge Test preparation

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

The actual SRT activity would be a Quizlet Live activity of the vocabulary learned. Using their BYODs/In-Class
Tablets, the students will login to Quizlet.live class with the correct join code and quickly find their groups. I
will facilitate by making sure that everyone is in their groups and beginning the game, encouraging the
students and making sure that everyone is participating. We will do the game 2-3 times depending on time
(between 15-20 minutes), breaking between each game to see which vocabulary words the students seem to
be having the most trouble with.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

Multiple choice Multiple select True/False Yes/No
Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

Yes No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)

Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
Yes
No
Why or why not?
Quizlet Live provides immediate feedback; it doesnt let you finish the game unless youve answered all
questions correctly. After each quiz, we would look back and see which questions caused the most problems.
I would provide immediate corrective feedback because I want to make sure that the students are learning
the correct information right away rather than having them go back and relearn information. It also gives me
a way to see what I need to focus on for my future lessons.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the SRT activity, we will recap on the different foods and phrases we learned, and I will gauge if
additional practice is necessary or if they've grasped enough for us to move on. I will then try to access their
prior knowledge and relate their vocabulary learning to their next lesson (i.e. present verb tense or
adjectives).
How will the data be used? This particular activity is more of a formative assessment than a summative one.
They will be graded on their participation more than on what they've learn thus far. What they'd gotten on
their "test" in the homework will be noted as a pre-test score, and at the end of the section, a more
summative test/project will be assigned to determine whether the students truly understood what they were
learning. The parents will receive an update through the classroom blog on what we are learning in class and
may contact me if they wish to know their student's progress in this particular section.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

Student Response and Assessment Tools
My personal goal for this activity is to try and use an alternative form of giving information and seeing if the
students understand better when the information is given to them beforehand rather than just in the
classroom setting. It would be my personal goal that between the flipped classroom and the activities in class,
the students would be able to at least recognize the vocabulary words if they were to see/experience them
outside of the classroom.
