The Lord of the Rings is a film series consisting of three high fantasy adventure
films directed by Peter Jackson. They are based on the novel The Lord of the Rings by J.
R. R. Tolkien. The films are divided into The Fellowship of the Ring(2001), The Two
Towers (2002) and The Return of the King (2003). They were produced by New Line
Cinema.
Considered to be one of the biggest and most ambitious film projects ever undertaken,
with an overall budget of $281 million, the entire project took eight years, with the filming
for all three films done simultaneously and entirely in New Zealand, Jackson's native
country.
The films were critically acclaimed and heavily awarded, winning 17 out of 30
total Academy Award nominations.
1. THE AUTHOR
JOHN RONALD REUEL TOLKIEN
John Ronal Reuel Tolkien known by his pen name J.R.R. TOLKIEN. He was a
South African poet, writer, philologist and university professor.
He was born on 3rd January, 1892. He was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
His parents were Arthur Reuel Tolkien and Mabel Suffield.
In 1896, when he was 4 years old, his father died and he moved to England with
his family.
He spent a happy childhood with his mother and brother Arthur in Birmingham,
England, but in 1904, when he was 12 years old, his mother died.
He studied Philology at Oxford University. John was a very intelligent student,
and in 1915, he graduated from university.
In 1916, he got married to Mary Bratt. They had four children called John Reuel,
Michael Reuel, Christopher Reuel and Priscilla Reuel. Only Christopher and
Priscilla are still alive.
He wrote The Hobbit (1937) and The Lord of the Rings trilogy (1954-1955): The
Fellowship of the Ring (1954), The Two Towers (1954) and The Return of the
King (1955). The Lord of the Rings is his most famous work.
He worked at Oxford University and Leeds University.
In 1968, he and his wife moved to Bournemouth.
In 1971, his wife Mary died then when he was 81 years old, J.R.R. Tolkien died
on 2nd of September in 1973. He died in Bournemouth, England.
2.2.THE CAST

He is a Hobbit. Bilbo is Frodos uncle.
He is known as the hobbit looter.
He has got light blue eyes, brown hair and large feet. He is short, slim and
agile.
He lives in a small village called The Shire.
He is a Maia (an angelic spirit). He was the most powerful of the Maiar
but he was corrupted by Melkor. He is the main antagonist and villain.
Known as the Dark Lord of Mordor.
He was the first owner of the One Ring. He uses magic power and led
an army of Orcs and Uruk-Hais.
He is very tall and strong. He is always wearing an armor. He dies when
the One Ring is destroyed by Frodo in the lava of the volcano.
2.3.THE TRILOGY
The story of the movie revolves around of the One Ring and the adventures of
Frodo Baggins and his friends in their mission to destroy the One Ring and
ensure the destruction of the Dark Lord, Sauron.
The trilogy won eleven Academy Awards, and it was a major worldwide
financial success.
Its my favorite trilogy and I`m a big fan of them because for me its the most
amazing movies that I saw.
Including three epic fantasy, action and adventure films, which are:

In the end of the story, Sam returns home after firing his friends on the
Gray Havens. Sam says, "Well, I'm back".
Important facts:
- Gollum falls next to the One Ring to the lava of the volcano after pulling
the finger to Frodo.

3. CONCLUSION/OPINION
- The trilogy was a major worldwide financial success.
- The films were critically acclaimed and heavily awarded
- Despite some variations, the trilogy usually follows the main plot of the
novel on which it is based.
- The film series are considered to be one of the biggest and most ambitious
film projects ever undertaken.
- The trilogy is set in the fictional world of Middle-earth.
- For me, its the most amazing movies (The Fellowship of the Ring, The
Two Towers and The Return of the King) that I saw, compared to others
movies, for example: Batman trilogy, Harry Potter saga or Star Wars saga.
- The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King
are long films but very funny, exciting, entertaining and many epic action
scenes.
- I recommend watching these fun movies, youll like them a lot.
