On our last day of this school year we will be celebrating all of the
great things each of our student have done. We will be having fun with water
balloons, sprinklers, and other fun games. We will be providing sandwiches for
lunch. However, we do have a sign-up sheet on the class website for all side
dishes.

Lesson Plan
Standards:
Engage collaboratively in exploration and imaginative play with materials.
Use observation and investigation in preparation for making a work of art.
Objectives:
Students to be able to see a butterfly and replicate it using their hands as paint brushes
and their imagination to see the butterfly.
Time Line:
After reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar and seeing the visual change
from a caterpillar into a butterfly we will be making our own butterfly
paintings.
First we will gather all of our materials and pick out some or one color(s).
Next we will paint the palms of our hands with the color(s) that we chose.
We will then stamp our hands on the paper.
After we stamp our hands we will draw on antennas, eyes, mouth, etc.
Students can also add other detailing to their butterflys
Lastly write our names at the top of the page and let the pictures dry until we
get to take them home!
In order to make sure each student sees their butterfly and realizes how they
made it I will ask them each two or three questions before they can put their
papers on the drying racks.
Questions: What did you learn about butterflies? Show me where the antennas
are? Do butterflies fly? Do butterflies look the same on both sides or are they
different?
