I have worked with Kris for the past two years at The Latin School of Chicago, both in my Second Grade classroom and in the Extended Day Program. Through both of these experiences, I have truly enjoyed getting to know Kris and watching her grow as a teacher. Kris’ eagerness to teach is demonstrated daily in her interactions with both students and fellow teachers. She is an energetic and engaging person. Kris exudes confidence when teaching, yet she is very open to suggestions. She was willing to help as needed and took quickly to our busy Second Grade schedule. Kris rotated between the three Second Grade classrooms and easily adapted to each room, teacher and our individual needs. We all benefited from her strong organizational skills and ability to manage many tasks at once. In the Extended Day Program, Kris was very helpful and willing to work variable hours in order to accommodate our enrollment needs. All of Kris’ communication with others is genuine; she is interested in other people and is not afraid to ask questions. I am most impressed with the authentic concern she shows for the children that she teaches. Kris always seems to be aware of their questions and interests and does what she can to address them. She builds strong relationships with the students that she works with and they clearly have a high opinion of her, as do the parents. ‘Throughout the years, Kris planned and implemented lessons in reading, writing, math, social studies, and science. She put a great deal of thought and creativity into her lessons. The students enjoyed the activities that she planned and understood the content. Kris has developed strong classroom management skills and has the ability to organize groups of students. She has gained the students” trust and respect, which is evident in the way they approach and interact with her, T have confidence that Kris would be an asset to any faculty.
