ARTS
Animals! Animals!
If your child likes art and loves animals, this experience is sure
to delight. Well draw, paint, sculpt, and get messy. Explore art
media including oil pastels, acrylic paint, clay, collage, chalk
pastels, and watercolor, all while learning to draw your favorite
animals. Our curriculum meets National Standards for Art
Education. Proudly present your work at a brief art show on
Friday.
Creative Fashion
Create your own fabulous fashions by drawing, painting, and personalizing your own runway-worthy
designs. Express yourself with style like a real fashion designer by creating a 3-dimensional design on
your own personal miniature dress form. Impress family and friends with your styling skills by taking
home a matted unique fashion sketch, sketches, templates, and original creation on a miniature dress
form.

Be in style and on trend while creating artwork in this special Do-It-Yourself class. Wearable art
(jewelry making), usable art, textile art, and recycled art, are just a few forms of individual expression.

BUSINESS
The Money Camp
Future tycoons and financial wizards welcome! Learn from professional financial managers about how
money is earned, managed, invested and saved. Personal budgets, the stock market, business plans and
the ins and outs of borrowing money are all part of this rich week of summer. As a culminating activity,
a behind-the-scenes visit to a local business operation will bring this lucrative week to an end.
CHESS
Chess for Success
Dont be a pawn! Learn how to outsmart both friend and foe. Chess develops skills in critical thinking,
problem solving, analysis, and visualization all while fostering confidence and sportsmanship.
Learn tactics and strategic skills you can build upon all year. The High Technology High School Chess
Club advisor and members of the High Technology Chess High School Team welcome novice and
experienced players.
DIGITAL ARTS
Arts and Science take new form in todays digital world. Introduce your child to
the many forms of expression and creativity Digital Arts encourage. Black Rocket
programs are fueled by imagination and designed to inspire a new generation of
ideas in a unique learning environment.
All Black Rocket Productions camps mirror real life experiences and the
collaborative nature of the creative process. Work in pairs or teams for most of
the design process, and end camp with a finished product to take home and
show family and friends.
App Adventures! The Next Level
Continue your quest to make the next viral app! Whether you want to move past the basic techniques
learned in App Attack or want to jump right in, we are ready for you! Choose from a selection of
different web-based (HTML5) mobile apps and explore more in-depth programming concepts. Student
projects will be accessible on a Black Rocket site and can be played on any mobile device or computer.
Publishing to App Stores not included. No prior experience is necessary and students do not need to
own a smartphone or tablet to take the class. Work in pairs or teams for most of the program.
App Attack!
Take the first steps into the world of mobile app design and customize your own game app! Using a
specialized app & game development tool, students will explore the world of web-based (HTML5)
mobile apps. In addition to learning the basics of mobile app design and game development, you will
also see firsthand how the world of App publishing functions. Student-created apps will be accessible
on a private site and can be played on any mobile device or computer. Publishing to App Stores not
included. No prior experience is necessary and students do not need to own a smartphone or tablet to
take the class. Work in pairs or teams for most of the program.
Code Breakers
Calling all future coders, programmers, & designers! Learn the basics of coding languages like HTML,
JavaScript, and CSS through a series of web projects and design challenges each day and be on your way
to becoming the next tech star! Whether you want to be the next Mark Zuckerberg or the high school
student who just made $1 million dollars for programming in his bedroom, this camp has the essentials
you need to begin your journey. Projects will be available on a Black Rocket website to share with
friends and family. Work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Game Labs: CollaborateCreateCompete
In The Ultimate Video Game Experience
For serious gamers only! Beyond 2D and 3D, now its time to advance to another level by competing
with the world! Develop games with a partner using a unique game engine. Learn advanced-level
editing, simple 3D modeling, intermediate event scripting, and the impact of game play on user
experience. Work in pairs or teams for most of the program.
Minecraft Animators
Bring your favorite Minecraft characters to life in an animated short film! Learn how studios like
Pixar and Disney make movies like Inside Out and Frozen using techniques like keyframing, tweening,
texturing, and animating rigged 3D models! Projects will be available on a Black Rocket website to
share with friends and family. You do not need to own a Minecraft account to use the software in this
class. Work in pairs or teams for most of the program.
Minecraft Designers
If you love the game Minecraft, and always wanted to design your own world, this camp is for you!
Learn how to create a custom map, the basics of creating 3D models using a new software to design
your very own objects, how to build with Redstone and Command blocks, and create custom textures
for you to import at home or share with friends. To access projects at home, you must own a PC/MAC
version of Minecraft. Tablet, phone, and game console versions of Minecraft are not compatible. Parent
email address is required to use 3D modeling software. Work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Minecraft Modders
Use your favorite game to learn the basics of modding and foundations of programming. Learn
scripting and logic statements as you create your first mods! Introductory coding will also be taught
through a simulated environment inspired by Minecraft. Student projects will be available on a
password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. To access their project at
home, campers must own a PC/MAC version of Minecraft. Tablet, phone, and game console versions
of Minecraft are not compatible. Work in pairs or teams for most of the program. Returning campers
can create more advanced projects that build on previous years.

NEW! Star Wars Stop Animation
Make your own Star Wars adventure come to life! Bring in your favorite Star Wars action figures and
create a short film. Whether you want to recreate a scene from Star Wars or design a new world of your
own, this class brings your dreams to the screen. You will need to bring in Star Wars action figures
or vehicles from home, but all other equipment is provided. Films will be available on a password-
protected website to share with friends and family. Work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

HISTORY & MYSTERY
New! JFK Assassination Investigation and Mock Trial
Conduct a week-long investigation into the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Did Lee Harvey
Oswald act alone or was he part of a conspiracy? Study audiovisual evidence, eye witness statements,
and medical reports to see if we can find the answer. The camp will end with a debate and mock trial of
Lee Harvey Oswald.
Global Citizenship
Do current events make you wish to change the world? Begin the journeybecome a voice for change.
Explore contemporary issues in human rights and social justice. Guest speakers and diverse resources
will aide our discovery of what it means to be a global citizen. Create a plan to address a global or local
problem. Develop your voice as an activist. This unique newly developed program will take place at
the Chhange Center at Brookdale. Join us and get inspired and empowered.
MATH
Mathematical Puzzles Plus!
Let Brookdales math faculty lead you on an adventure of mathematics manipulatives. Through hands-
on activities and problem solving challenges, you will learn about topics like fractals, the Tower of
Hanoi math puzzles, and math video games! Math + Puzzles = Fun!
Engineering Explorations
As an engineer you will learn physical science concepts and use them as you design, construct, test and
analyze results. Then, you will reconstruct, retest and reanalyze results to determine whether design
modifications were effective. Design and construction competitions may include bridges, roller coasters
and amusement park rides, electric circuits, rockets and space vehicles, energy efficient buildings and
interactive computer challenges.
Science Sleuths
Become a science detective as you explore the many facets of the science world. This week is packed
with fun-filled, hands-on, minds-on science activities, as you learn about being a CSI, paleontologist,
oceanographer, astronaut, chemist or biologist. Investigate a murder mystery, the properties of slime,
Mysterious Yuk, mystery powders, pollution and more.

Ocean Adventures
From collecting sea creatures in Sandy Hook Bay, hunting for fossils from the oceans past, to exploring
our changing coastal environments, lighthouses, historic Fort Hancock and more, join us for 5 days of
discovery at our Jersey seashore. Our daily Ocean Adventure field trips and activities are so much fun
it will be hard to believe how much you are learning. Science, history, weather and the ocean will never
look the same after youve gained a mariners point of view.
Ocean Adventures and Lenape Exploration are held at Sandy Hook. Brookdale thanks
the National Parks Service at Sandy Hook and Historic Twin Lights for allowing us
access to their buildings for our public programs.
SCIENCE - ACADEMY HIGH SCHOOLS
Camps-On-Campus presents the following fun and unique learning experiences in
partnership with the Monmouth County Vocational School District. Programs take
place at the individual academy high school locations. Camp participation will not
impact admission to the vocational school district academy high schools.
New! Intro to Film & TV: On Camera Acting and Behind the Scenes
Work as cast and crew teams in this cool camp. Learn basic levels of acting, directing and operating the
camera. Script writing, storyboarding and improvisation will also be introduced. Projects include com-
mercials, film scenes, music videos and public service announcements. Each day is different as campers
create original projects and learn the basics of the biz. This camp is designed by casting director, Kathy
Wickline, CSA (www.wicklinecasting.com) who holds over 10,000 casting credits in film, commercials
and TV. (Included in this camp is a professionally edited flash drive for lifetime keepsake. Please allow
up to 3 months for editing/delivery.

Young Writers Adventures
Are you ever stuck for inspiration? Creative artists, professional writers, and dynamic Brookdale
Community College Professors will help you expand your writing abilities and create your own
portfolio. Have fun while you try your hand at description, dialogue, fantasy and fact. Experience
guest writers and artists, interesting readings, and more. Join us!

Basketball Training Camp
A co-ed, fundamentals camp where campers will be exposed to a variety of drills and skill
work, tested in game situations and compete daily in afternoon coached games. The Collins
Arena and Brookdale Recreation and Events Center include air-conditioned gymnasiums
and three full-size courts.

A co-ed, basic camp where campers will be exposed to a variety of outdoor games, including
but not limited to Ladderball, Bean Bag toss, Spikeball and Kan-Jam. This camp will be
offered as a late afternoon option.

Cheer/Dance Camp
Campers will learn cheers, chants, choreography, tumbling, crafts, and basic pyramids,
while working alongside and being coached by Brookdales collegiate cheerleaders and head
Cheer/ Dance coach who is AACCA cheer safety certified and
VIRTUS certified Camp closes with a presentation of
learned routines. This program is designed for
beginning to intermediate cheerleaders.

Fencing Camp
This half-day program is designed to introduce the sport of fencing to boys and girls ages
9-15. Led by professional and world-class fencers, this camp promotes the safety and
technique of the classical Olympic sport. All equipment will be provided. Space is limited.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Girls Volleyball Training Camp
Ages: 9-14 years old- This camp is designed as an introduction for beginners into the world
of volleyball. Coaches will break down the sport into positions, setting, passing, hitting and
serving. Focusing on these fundamentals will allow us to develop each skill over the week
and provide a fun pressure free environment to learn the basics of Volleyball.
Ages: 14-18 years old- This camp is designed for an athlete that has been exposed to the
sport of volleyball but is looking to grow their fundamental skill set and take their game to
the next level. Skill work will be focused on serving, hitting, passing and setting. This skill
work will be customized to each athletes skill level entering the camp with developmental
training as its sole goal. Our staff for this camp is led by the Jersey Blue volleyball coaching
staff and alumni.

Softball Hitting and Fielding Training Camp
Individualized instruction for girls for every field position, with daily games and plenty of
batting practice. Campers have access to college-level facilities, including indoor batting
cages and use of our collegiate field. Our staff is led by the Jersey Blues coaching staff and
includes some of the top players and coaches in the shore area.

Minor students, ages 13 and up, can sign-in and sign-out unattended. Your child may leave the program-
premises by his/her own means, with arrangements made by you to meet at a designated location imme-
diately following dismissal. All visitors to Brookdale Community College must abide by all laws, policies
and regulations in effect during the time of enrollment in classes and camp programs.

Refund Policy
If a parent must cancel his/her childs camp registration(s), our refund policy is as follows: 10 or more days prior
to camp, payment will be fully refunded less the $75 non-transferable deposit; 9 days or less prior to camp, we
will hold of the fee and refund the balance; no refunds will be issued once a camp program begins. Appeals
require documentation of an emergency. The College reserves the right to cancel a camp in which the registration
is less than the minimum required. If Brookdale Community College cancels a camp, full refunds will be auto-
matically granted. Refunds will be issued in the form of a check; please allow 2-4 weeks for processing. There is
a $20 handling fee for switching sessions after the original registration.

Medical Care
