RE: APPLICATION FOR THE FEARLESS AWARD

DATE: April 17, 2017

Dear colleagues,

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam!

In reference to the LIYAB Awards 2017, AIESEC in Davao humbly submits its
application for the FEARLESS Award. As explained, the Fearless Award goes to the entity that
has demonstrated fearlessness throughout the whole year, made tough decisions and stayed
resilient through the process and AIESEC Davao is exactly that entity. Below are the reasons
why:

AIESEC in Davao has run numerous innovations and faced many obstacles along the
way, such as, but not limited to:
a.) Change in Membership Recruitment Process
In sum, the process before is recruitment and MSI first before they get to be
immersed in the AIESEC work and become members of the LC. However, that proved
to be not working since after students become members of AIESEC, they usually
disappear before even partaking to AIESEC tasks and responsibilities. We change the
method to internship and immersion first before becoming members. In this method,
applicants get to see and work the real AIESEC before they can become members. In this
process, they have to prove first and work their way out to become official members of
AIESEC and that proved to be efficient and highly effective since the retention rate every
after MSI increased from 70% to 100%. Before they become official members of AIESEC,
they should be active official applicants (probationary members) first so there was no
difficulty anymore in retaining them after MSI and acceptance.

b.) Expansion in other schools and Universities

AIESEC in Davao opened its membership not only to students of Ateneo but also
to students in other schools and expanded in Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku, University of
the Philippines-Mindanao and University of SouthEastern Philippines.

c.) Revamp in Marketing and Promotional Strategies

AIESEC Davao made several changes in our Marketing strategies ranging from
online and offline and this proved to be effective since we saw an increase of total sign
ups and applications both for membership and exchanges

There was a decrease in the over-all exchange performance of AIESEC in Davao, but this
is the same for all entities in the Philippines. This decrease is attributed to the following:
1.) Late approval of MC Term 15-16 of the opportunities in EXPA and
late preparations and support of the MC for the 2016 Summer Peak.
2.) Implementation of numerous changes in the processes, programs,
customer flow and EXPA
3.) Constant EXPA Website failures and down-time
(All of these are external factors and which could not be attributed to AIESEC
Davao alone. Realizing this, AIESEC Davao never again allowed the late
approval of MC of its opportunities in EXPA and MC Term 16-17 was so kind
and accommodating of this realization.)

Despite all of these obstacles and challenges, AIESEC Davao remained resilient and
emerged as the biggest contributor of exchange to whole AIESEC in the Philippines (See
Table 1 below) and that demonstrated how FEARLESS Davao is.

(Table 1)

** EXPA doesnt show the over-all exchanges of the entities so we
