STREAMLINE INDOOR WIRELESS NETWORK PLANNING

The iBwave Design application is the most comprehensive software available for automated network
design planning. Users can streamline the process of data collection, component selection, cost
evaluation, design, validation, documentation, reporting and more. Significantly reduce the time spent on
manual field work and increase cost savings.

WHATS NEW IN VERSION 8.0?

The iBwave Design Version 8.0 includes new and improved features aimed at increasing the efficiency
and quality of your wireless designs. The highlighted features are:

Enhanced capacity analysis and calculations

New Average Downlink Data Rate output map

Support for simultaneous Wi-Fi Active and Passive survey collection during a walk

Automatically create floor plan for new projects

Export .IBWM projects directly from Design

New compass legend

Improved maps for LTE TDD

Other improvements

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 8.1.2

1
Enhanced Capacity Analysis and Calculations

ENHANCED CAPACITY ANALYSIS AND CALCULATIONS

The enhanced capacity feature is the first existing Hetnet capacity solution of its kind that models multiple
networks together and validates accurate capacity results. Capacity is calculated with combined cellular
and Wi-Fi networks considering 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi technologies. Different capacity requirements can be
modeled per hot spot zones considering higher density of users and/or rigid throughput requirements on a
specific floor that yields a high level of accuracy.

1) Improved capacity requirements and usage profiling

Capacity requirements are configured for small cells and Wi-Fi deployments. Default settings are
predefined to enable a quick capacity analysis, however users can set accurate requirements for
accurate results. Set the capacity requirements for:

Subscriber usage profile

Subscriber service

Market share

Capacity requirements define compliancy settings for a project.

Default capacity definitions sets the values for market share usage profile and subscriber service.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 8.1.2

2
WHATS NEW IN VERSION 8.0?

2) Define Traffic Definition per Capacity Zones

Set the subscriber per zone for each floor that configures the compliance threshold.
On the floor plans draw the zones and enter the expected usage per zone.

Set the capacity expected peak traffic in zones on the floor plan.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 8.1.2

3
Enhanced Capacity Analysis and Calculations

3) Capacity Output Map

The capacity output map shows the pass/fail results for air interface and equipment interface.

4) Enhanced Capacity Probe

The capacity probe shows a breakdown of each reading that lists

Cell load

Traffic demands per floor

Traffic demands per zone

Average throughput per user

Equipment limits

others

A pass/fail result shows the compliance results with the set requirements.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 8.1.2

4
WHATS NEW IN VERSION 8.0?

NEW AVERAGE DOWNLINK DATA RATE OUTPUT MAP

5) Create Average DL Data Rate Map
Run the Average Downlink Data Rate Map to show the impact of the end user throughput when
multiple users are served by a cell simultaneously, based on the capacity requirements.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 8.1.2

5
Collect Parallel Active and Passive Surveys

COLLECT PARALLEL ACTIVE AND PASSIVE SURVEYS

6) Active and Passive Survey Collection
In one walkthrough both Active and Passive surveys can be collected at same time for Wi-Fi.

DUPLEX FIBER CABLE

7) Support for Duplex Configuration for PON
One fiber port can now support two fiber strands, where a duplex cable with two fiber strands can be
connected simplex cable with one fiber strand.

NEW COMPASS LEGEND

8) Improved Compass For True North Setting
Users can now drop a compass legend to show the orientation of the plan in reference to the true north.

NEW SUPPORTED TECHNOLOGIES

9) New supported technologies
The list of new supported technologies expands to include:
GPS technology and bands
Support LTE TDD for improved accuracy of Maximum Achievable Data Rate
Support for LoRa
Ultra Wideband
P25 modulation for public safety 4.9 GHz (802.11y)
Australia 850 MHz band
Updated frequency converter

EXPORT MOBILE PROJECT TO LOCAL DRIVE

10) Export .IBWM project to local drive
Projects in iBwave Design application can be exported to .iBWM format and saved on local disk.

This offers a quick and alternative method of sharing projects across applications without uploading via
the iBwave Cloud, in case wireless connections are slow or where company policy prevents cloud
uploads.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 8.1.2

6
WHATS NEW IN VERSION 8.0?

OTHER ENHANCEMENTS
11) New automatic floor plan for new project
A standard floor plan is automatically created with a new design project.

12) New VoLTE and VoWi-Fi configurations

The configuration of VoLTE and VoWi-Fi is factored in the capacity calculations.

13) Access Point Labels in AP Report

Access point labels are highlighted in the AP report.

14) Enhanced Cable Label Location

Cable label location and positioning on floor plan is improved for better visibility.

15) Part IDs With Categories and Subcategories

Part IDs are now based on part category and subcategory.

16) Address on Title Block

Address is now shown on the title block of a plan.
