INTRODUCTION

Nowadays, there is a need for increasing the food production due to

the growing population. For this farmers are using different agro
chemicals for improving the crop yield. Continuous use of these
chemical agents will lead to the formation of pesticides and herbicides
resistant strains. It will also cause environmental pollution and create
health hazards in all the livestock. So we have to concentrate on the
sustainable agriculture based on organic farming, including bio
fertilizers.

Even though fertilisers are rich in nutrients it diminishes the

organic content of the soil, kills soil microbes and destroy the soil
texture.
DISCUSSION AND RESULT

Increased use of pesticides, insecticides, herbicides and

chemical fertilizers leads to the environmental pollution and
results in the production of chemical resistant pests and weeds.
This herbicide (tritac) caused the death of subject under
one hour. It formed a film over the gills which block the gaseous
exchange. The subject showed vigorous movement, lack of
balance, swelling in the head region and colour change prior to
death. The inability of the subject to regulate its air bladder
caused it to loose balance. Within one hour the fish died.
CONCLUSION

It is concluded from the study that increased use of

herbicides is harmful to living organisms and our environment.
Therefore people should practice organic farming, based on
natural plant derived herbicide (Bio-herbicide)

METHODOLOGY

Take one fish each in two beakers A and B considering

them as control and test respectively. Add 10ml of test solution
to the test beaker in every 10 minutes interval. Measure the
respiratory rate of fishes before and after adding the herbicide by
counting the number the times the fishes opened and closed the
operculum.
Preparation of Test solution
Test solution was prepared by mixing 10ml of herbicide in 1
litre of water.
Chemical composition of Tritac
1-[(2,3,6- trichlorophenyl) methoxy]-2-propanol.
PREPARATION OF BIODEGRADABLE
PLASTIC FROM CORNSTARCH.
