9. METODOLOGA

English 2 is a course in which the methodological principles are based on the integration of four skills (reading, writing,
speaking and listening) in stimulating activities in which the student is the centre of the learning process in order to achieve the
respective proficiency according to the CEFR.

The use of Bloom's Taxonomy as part of the methodology will integrate not only the cognitive but also the affective
psychomotor objectives in the students.

Knowledge: The recall of specifics and universals, involving little more than bringing to mind the appropriate material.

Comprehension: The ability to process knowledge on a low level such that the knowledge can be reproduced or
communicated without verbatim repetition.

Application: The use of abstractions in concrete situations.

Analysis: The breakdown of a situation into its component parts.

Synthesis: The putting together of elements and parts to form a whole.

Evaluation: The making of judgments about the value of material/methods.

The use of the virtual platform of the Universidad Catlica de Santiago de Guayaquil encourages the students to be a self-
learner since most of the activities uploaded by the teacher are to support the learning process in an autonomous way.

Video and CDs are played in regular classes to help students to improve their listening skills, and understanding.
