Lesson plan for Mathematics Form 2:

Topic : Chapter 9 Loci in Two Dimensions

Subtopic : Chapter 9.1 Understand the concept of two dimensional loci
Form : 2D
Number of students : 30 students
Date : 27 January 2011, Thursday
Time : 8.00am 9.20am (80 minutes)

Learning objectives :
a) Understand the concept of two dimensional loci.
b) Relate the concept of loci to daily life.

Learning outcomes :
At the end of the lesson, students should be able:
a) To describe and sketch the locus of a moving object.
b) To determine the locus of points which are of constant distance from a fixed point, equidistant from two fixed points, constant
distance from a straight line and equidistant from two intersecting lines.
c) To construct the locus of points which are of constant distance from a fixed point, equidistant from two fixed points, constant
distance from a straight line and equidistant from two intersecting lines.

Activities :
a) Set induction: Animation by using power point slide.
b) Development of the lesson: Discovery activities, group discussion, problem based learning and lecture.
c) Evaluation: Give quiz to monitor students understanding.
d) Closure: Summarize todays lesson and give homework

Prior knowledge : Students should be able to use compasses and know how to
take measurement.
Attitude and values : Cooperation, trust, confidence, honesty
