B) Installing Survey Preparation Plugins

1) Copy the Survey Preparation folder to Drive C:\. And, rename the folder as needed. (e.g.
SURVEY as shown below)
2) Start AutoCAD 2017 and create a new drawing
3) Customize the Quick Access Toolbar
A. Click on the Quick Access Toolbars arrow down
B. Click on the Show Menu Bar to enable it.

4) How to Open Options
A. Click on Tools on the Menu Bar. A drop down Menu will open to a selection.
B. Click on Options to open the Settings for AutoCAD 2017.

5) Open Options
A. Click Files Tab
B. Click Support File Search Path
C. Click Add button

D. A new entry should open under Support File Search Path
E. Click the Browse button

6) Browse for Folder window should open.
A. Double click on Drive C:\ to show its contents.

7) Navigate to the Survey Preparation folder which was copied earlier to Drive C:\
A. Click on Survey Preparation folder (e.g. SURVEY as shown below)
B. Click the OK button.

8) The Survey Preparation folder entry
A. It should now appear under the Support File Search Path
B. Click on the Apply button

9) Check successful addition of the Survey Preparation folder
A. Click on Working Support File Search Path
B. The Survey Preparation folder entry should appear on the last entry

10) Add Survey Preparation folder to Trusted Locations
A. Click/select the Trusted Locations
B. Click the Add button

C. The last entry under Trusted Locations should change
D. Click the Browse button

11) A new pop-up window should open with a Browse for folder heading
A. Navigate to Drive C:\ where the Survey Preparation was saved earlier in Step 1
B. Select the Survey Preparation Folder
C. Click the OK Button

12) After clicking the OK button, a new pop-up warning window will appear
A. Click the Continue button

13) Check for successful Survey Preparation folder inclusion
A. It should be on the last entry under Trusted Locations
B. Click the Apply button

14) Click on the Open and Save tab
A. Under File Save, click Save as:
B. Select AutoCAD 2000/LT2000 Drawing (*.dwg)
(Note: this is for backwards compatibility for earlier AutoCAD versions)
C. Change the Automatic save minutes between save from 10 to 2 instead.
(Note: this is to prevent unnecessary problems if any computer error or power should
occur, so that we could still recover the much of the work done before the error.)
D. Click the Apply button

15) Change the Default Plot Settings
A. Click/select the Plot and Publish tab
B. Under Default plot settings for new drawings click/select option box for Use as default
output device
C. Select the DWF6 ePlot.pc3 among the options
D. Click/select the Apply button.

16) CHANGE THE USER PREFERENCES SETTINGS
A. Change the Source content units from Inches to Meters
B. Change the Target drawing units from Inches to Meters
C. Click the Apply button

17) CHANGE THE 3D MODELING SETTINGS
A. Locate the Display Tools in Viewport
B. Change the Display the ViewCube settings
i. Uncheck the tick box for 2D Wireframe visual style
ii. Uncheck the tick box for All other visual styles
C. Change the Display the UCS Icon settings
i. Leave the tick box checked for 2D Wireframe visual style
ii. Uncheck the tick box for All other visual styles
D. Uncheck the tick box for Display the Viewport Controls
E. Click on the Apply button
F. Click on the OK button

18) HIDE OR DISABLE THE RIBBON
A. Right click on the blank space below the Menu Bar
B. Click/select on the Close option

19) LOAD THE SURVEY PREPARATION CUSTOMIZATION PROGRAM/PLUGIN
A. Open The Load/Unload Customization Option Window
i. Type CUILOAD in the Command Bar
ii. Press Enter or Space Bar on your Keyboard

B. The Load/Unload Customization window will pop-up


C. Click on the box under the File Name:
D. Click on the Browse button
(Note: The Select Customization File window should open)

E. Click on the option selection box following the Look in: option
F. Click/select Drive C:\ where the Survey Preparation was saved in Step 1

G. Click/select on the Survey Preparation folder

I. The name of the Survey Preparation folder should appear in the option box
J. Click/select the desired customization file (*.CUIX)
K. The name of the desired customization file should appear in the File name box area
L. Click on the Open button
(Note: The window Select Customization File should close after step 19-L)

M. The file path of the customization file for the Survey Preparation should appear in the
option box under the File Name: category option
N. Click on the Load button

O. The Survey Preparation name should appear under the Loaded Customization Groups
P. The toolbars for the Survey Preparation Customization Group should also appear among
the toolbars in your AutoCAD 2017.
Q. Depending on the settings of your customization group, a new Menu Bar item should
also appear for the Survey Preparation.
R. Click on the Close button

20) TURN ON THE CLASSIC STANDARD AUTOCAD TOOLBARS FROM EARLIER VERSION
A. Right click on a vacant part on the toolbar area
B. Hover the mouse pointer over AutoCAD
C. Click/select on the desired toolbars for them to appear in the toolbar area
(e.g. Standard Toolbar)

D. Repeat the Steps 20-A to Step 20-C for each of the following:
i. Draw
ii. Draw Order
iii. Layers
iv. Modify
v. Properties
vi. Styles

E. All of the above toolbars should now be available on your toolbar area
(Note: If ever you will have no need, or vice versa, of any of the above toolbars, please follow
Steps 20-A to 20-C in order to remove or install these toolbars.)
21) SET THE NEWLY INSTALLED CUSTOMIZATION GROUP TO AUTOLOAD UPON AUTOCAD STARTUP
A. Click/select Tools in the Menu Bar
B. Click/select the Load Application

C. The Load/Unload Applications window will pop-up
D. Click on the Contents button

E. The Startup Suite window will pop-up

(Note: Since the AutoCAD 2017 was newly installed, under no circumstances that there
should be any entry in the Startup Suites List of Applications list, even if a profile or a
setting was previously imported by any form or method.
In the event that there are entries or entry in the List of Applications, click/select ALL of
them and click the Remove button.
These will cause unnecessary future conflict with the newly installed Survey Preparation
or unwonted System Crashes in the future, if not thereafter.)

F. Click on the Add button


G. The Add File to Startup Suite window should pop-up

H. Navigate to Drive C:\ where the Survey Preparation was copied to in Step 1
I. Click/select the Survey Preparation folder in Drive C:\
J. Press and hold Ctrl (Control) on your keyboard and click/select the following files:
i. SURVEY.LSP
ii. SURVEY1.LSP
(Note: If there are more than 2 survey.lsp lisp files in the Survey Preparation folder,
please select all of them. Please take note that each of these are required lisp files
for the proper functionality of Survey Preparation customization to work properly
and are preceded by the word SURVEY; thus, it is not of any other word or letter.)
K. The selected number of file/s should appear in the File Name: option box
L. Click on the Open button

M. This window will close and you will be redirected to the previous window.
N. The newly added lisp files should appear under the List of applications:
O. Click on the Close button

P. Upon clicking on the Close button, the display will be reverted back to the Load/Unload
Applications window
Note:
If the file/s under the List of applications were MORE than the intended number
of file/s to automatically load on AutoCAD startup, please select the excess file/s
and click on the Remove button.
If the file/s under the List of applications were LESS than the intended number of
file/s to automatically load on AutoCAD startup, please follow Steps 21-F to 21-L
in order to properly add the missing files on the List of application.
Q. If the lisp files were successfully added, they will appear at the last box near the bottom
of the bottom of the Load/Unload Applications window.

R. Click on the Close button.
22) Exit AutoCAD 2017.
23) Restart the computer to ensure the proper installation of the Survey Preparation Customization
Group into AutoCAD 2017.
Congratulations!!!
You may now use your newly installed Survey Preparation Customization Group on
your AutoCAD 2017!

Note: If you encounter some undesirable built-in features,


please continue with the rest of the manual. Some
of them were tackled in the succeeding pages.
TROUBLESHOOTING EXTRAS
A) TEST THE AUTOCAD 2017 SURVEY PREPARATION FOR PROBLEMS
1. Start AutoCAD 2017
2. Click on ***GeoMAX*** from the Menu Bar
3. Hover the mouse pointer on GeoMAX Lot Generator
4. Hover the mouse pointer on Cadastral Survey
5. Click/select Azimuth, Distance
6. Proceed with establishing your Survey Station points as needed
7. Upon completing the necessary procedures of plotting the Traverse Station, you may
be faced with something exactly like this one as shown below, instead of directly
plotting the Traverse Station.
i. Due to the complexity of disabling the automatic editor for block entities on
the drawing, it is faster and easier to simply import a profile exported from
previous versions of AutoCAD such as AutoCAD 2007 or AutoCAD 2002.
ii. To solve this issue, please export a profile from earlier working version of
AutoCAD.
B) HOW TO IMPORT PROFILES INTO AUTOCAD 2017
1. Click/select Tools in the Menu Bar
2. Click/select Options in the last selection to open Options (Settings).
3. Click/select the Profiles tab
4. Click/select the Import button
5. The Import Profile window will open
6. Navigate to the saved profile from previous version/s of AutoCAD such as AutoCAD
2002 to AutoCAD 2007.
i. Sample below is an *.ARG file from AutoCAD2007 profile file that was
exported in July 26, 2016 running Windows XP SP3 x86 (32 bit) Operating
System
7. Click/select the *.ARG file
8. The selected file should appear on File name:
9. Click on the Open button
10. Import Profile window should appear
11. The file name of the imported profile will appear & highlighted
12. Click on the Apply & Close button

i. The Import Profile window will close


13. The imported profile name will appear under Available profiles
14. Click on the Set Current button

NOTE:
The imported profile will not affect the following:
o Auto-load applications on AutoCAD Startup
o Loaded Customization Groups via CUILOAD
o Loaded Customization Groups via CUI
The imported profile will only affect the Options environment, which simply
means that Steps 5 up to Step 17 need to be done all over again
To export a profile, select the desired profile and click on Export button. Save it
to your PC.
C) FOR UNMOVABLE TOOLBARS
1. Right-click on any vacant space in the toolbar area
2. Click/select Lock Location
3. Uncheck all of the items in it
(Note: You can try and lock them back later one by one to see if which ones were locked for
each item on the list)
D) MOVING TOOLBARS TO DESIRED LOCATION
1. Click and hold the indicated area of the toolbar and move your mouse around

E) GRAYED OUT QUICK ACCESS TOOLBAR


1. Download the latest Video Card driver for your desktop computer
2. Disconnect from the internet or unplug the LAN Cable from your desktop
3. Disable the Anti-virus program
4. Uninstall the existing Video Card driver, if possible
5. Install the newly downloaded Video Card driver
6. Enable Anti-Virus program
7. Restart your desktop computer
(NOTE: Around 5% of the time, the grayed out top toolbar will not be resolved by
installing the latest video driver.)
