Prologue

The moon shone brightly over the starry sky, Starclan was watching silently.
Hello? a small brown kit spoke up above the darkness.
Mist wreathed around him shrouding his scent. Eyes popped up from the bushes.
Cold green eyes stared at the kit.
Smokestorm? I-Is that y-you? The little tom piped up as he whirled his head
around to stare at the dark grey tom.
Oh, dont worry little one, youll be fine. But what are you doing so far away from
camp? Smokestorm sneered at the terrified dust colored kit.
The kit shrank into a small bramble bush that was on the outside of a clearing. He
shivered as Smokestorm padded closer.
Dont worry Brownkit, Im just going to take you back to camp Brownkit saw
pure hunger for blood in the toms eyes.
No, I will go back myself Brownkit streaked away under the cats paws but it was
too late, Smokestorm grasped his scruff in between his teeth and bit down as hard as he
could.
Brownkit shrieked in pain as blood started to drip steadily down his neck.
Wha- are you d-d-doing!??! The kit dangled in the air helplessly as he felt his
neck twist and writhe in pain.
Oh, just killing you! Smokestorm dropped the kit and held one of his hindlegs in
his teeth.
 He bit down and swiped the kit with his forepaw. Brownkit gurgled helplessly as he
felt the bones breaking in his leg.
Shut up and die quietly!!! Smokestorm snapped at the dieing cat who was
completely limp now. The bushes rustled ahead and the gray murderer ran off into the
undergrowth beside the river. Another small brown kit padded out of the bushes, looking
around.
Brownk- He stared at the helpless cat in front of him.
No!!!!!!!!! Brownkits brother shrieked as he ran towards the kit. The small tom
gurgled one last time before letting his chest fur lie down, and his limbs go limp.
Who did this t- The kit sniffed at his brothers fur. Smokestorm?! Why would he
do this
Ill never forget you, Brownkit, and me and Phoenixkit will find this murderer, and
give him something to think about
He sighed and touched his nose to the dead cats fur.
I will not let him gasp another breath, only when my claws meet his chest, and he
meets the ground. In death

Chapter 1

Weaselpaw dashed across the grassy plains as he ran after a rabbit. It was fat,
the clan would be proud of him. It was Weaselpaws 1st moon mark of being an
apprentice. The fat brown rabbit streaked away from him as the tom ran after it.
Weaselpaw lengthened his strides so he could catch up to the rabbit. In one last stride
the rabbit bounded down into a burrow.
Mousedung! Weaselpaw muttered.
A ginger she-cat appeared behind the brown apprentice. She had a white stripe
going down her forehead all the way down to her tail.
Whats wrong? She asked.
Oh, I just missed a rabbit, Phoenixpaw Weaselpaw answered.
Phoenixpaw smiled. Dont worry, youll catch one next time. For now, we need to
go fishing, Skytail said so.
Weaselpaw padded towards the river where his father waited for him. Eventually
he and Phoenixpaw found Skytail waiting for them on a small rock where the water
lapped at his paws.
 Hello Weaselpaw, Phoenixpaw
Skytail nodded before diving under the water. A little while later he came back up
with a fish in his jaws.
Well done! Weaselpaw exclaimed. He padded down to the waters edge where
he could see the fish. There are so many fish in here! He ducked under the water and
looked around for a fish, which wasnt hard as he already had a fish coming right for him!
Weaselpaw grabbed the fish in his growing jaws and sprang back to the surface.
Great catch! exclaimed Phoenixpaw.
Oh, it was nothing, you should see how many fish are down there! This one
practically just swam into my mouth! He dropped the fish as he said that, looking down at
it wriggling.
Phoenixpaw, you should do the honours.
Said Skytail dipping his head politely to the she-cat.
Oh...Alright! She carefully nipped at the fish's neck and it died quickly.
Phoenixpaw said thanks to Starclan, then we headed back to camp. I wish B-
Weaselpaws thoughts were interrupted by Phoenixpaw, as she pawed his tail.
Hey, what are you doing that for!? He asked as he whipped around and gave a
playful slash at her ear.
Hey! Stop fighting you two, we are back at camp now Scolded the browny gray
tom that was Weaselpaws father. He is such a great father! He looked at Phoenixpaw,
she had a sparkling gleam telling him, Well finish this later
They walked into camp chins high, tails erect as some of the senior warriors gave
them nods, such as Pikefin, who was looking very happy to see his best friend had such
lovely kits. Phoenixpaw dropped off the fish to the fresh kill pile then went to go see her
mentor, Streamfur. Weaselpaw waved his tail as a farewell seeing as they were going to
see their mentors.
Beetlesplash trotted up to the tom.
How was hunting? Did you catch anything? Beetlesplash was a very kind cat,
and Weaselpaw was lucky to have such a nice mentor.
Well, I nearly got this huge rabbit! But sadly, it got into its burrow. Although I did
catch that fish over there, he gestured to the pile of prey next to the stone pile in the
middle of camp.
