BACKGROUND OF FIRM

The long-awaited transfer from the old city hall to the newly constructed building in
Barangay Real has finally transpired. At present, the city employees have been rendering
services in the new site since the later part of 2005. The building which was inaugurated
on August 16, 2005 in time with the birthday of the City Mayor is now fully occupied by
departments and some of the Regional Offices. The Office of the Ombudsman for Luzon
has been holding office since 2006 while the Calamba City Schools Division of the
Department of Education has a new building within the complex.

The 4-storey building excluding the penthouse was constructed in 5-hectare

property and has approximately 9,000 square meter of floor area. Its basement was
designed to accommodate both private and public establishment on a rental basis. Even
the Philippine National Police Detachment Office was provided with enough space at the
lower ground floor. Unlike the old site in Barangay 7, the new location has a vast parking
lot for its growing clients.

History of Calamba to Become a City from Municipality

April 21, 2001 was the day that changed the course of history of Calamba. After over
seven years of waiting, Calamba became the second component city of the Province of
Laguna by Virtue of Republic Act No. 9024 An Act Converting the Municipality of
Calamba, Province of Laguna into the Component City to be known as a City of
Calamba. R.A 9024 was signed into a law by Her Excellency President Gloria
Macapagal-Arroyo on March 5, 2001 at the Malacanang Palace. The Commission on
Elections (COMELEC) then set the plebescite for Calambas Cityhood on April 21,
2001, three weeks before the local elections.

LESSON LEARNED

I've been on an On-the-Job-Training course for about 3 months now, and one of the
hardest issues to face is how to PROVE YOURSELF- that you are really doing your job
and that you deserve a good grade, not only to your supervisor but also to your
workmates.

Ive learned a lot of things in just 300 hrs. of on the job training but Ive noticed that
there are still other things that I have to improve one of it is my verbal communication.

Nervousness and shyness are always when its youre first time. For many reason, and
lot of stuff playing on my mind. Such, I do not know the people in the office; and I do not
have any actual experience. That made me quiet at first. Trying to observe on how to
get along with the employee.

there are times that Im having a hard time on expressing myself , my thought with
others because I dont exactly know how am I going to say it in a way that the listener
could easily understand it and get my point.
Ever since I started my on-the-job training, more commonly called internship, I have
learned values that will help me build a brighter future.

Every day is a challenge for me to stand out. But I always have a winning attitude
through the guidance of the Lord, and always tell myself, Im gonna win this.

I learned a lot of things during my OJT. I was not only exposed to actual office
environment but I also realized what I really want even before the time I graduated.
What career I would want to have, etc. There are important things Ive learned. First is
you need to please everyone and try as much as you can to be polite and nice to
everyone, and do it with sincerity (yung hindi plastic). Because when we are kind to
people, same kindness returns to us. And smile always.
