Course Learning Outcome:

After successful completion of the course, student will be able to
appraise use of tools such as hydraulic jack. LVDT, strain gauge, accelerometer, data acquisition
system etc. and testing facilities
carry out experiments to understand the behavior of structural elements
investigate load transfer mechanism, failure types & crack patterns for structural elements
exercise non-destructive testing of concrete and infer the outcomes

Syllabus:
Structural testing, Test objectives and evaluation criteria, Study and use of applications of mechanical and
electrical resistance strain gauges, various types of transducers, Introduction to instrumentation and testing
techniques for structures under static and dynamic loads
Testing of Structural Models like walls, beams, columns, slab and joints, Vibrating table and its use for study
of mode shapes and frequencies, corrosion measurements, Use of computers for data acquisition, data
logger and test control, Condition assessment of existing structures, Non-destructive testing
