Name:

We are so happy that you’ve made the decision to be baptized and become a
member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

To help you prepare for your special day, we made this packet that explains
the baptismal covenants you will be making and the promises that Heavenly
Father will make you.

After you get baptized, use this packet to write down some of your thoughts
and feelings so that you can remember them when you are older.

You are following one of Heavenly Father’s commandments by being

baptized. He is so pleased with your decision and he loves you very much.

We are so proud of you!

Love,
The Primary Presidency
Baptismal Covenant
When you are baptized you become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter
Day Saints. Only through baptism can you become a member of Christ’s church.
Baptism also means that your sins are forgiven and you are prepared to receive the gift
of the Holy Ghost. When you are baptized you make a covenant with Heavenly Father.
This covenant consists of promises that both you and Heavenly Father make.

I promise Heavenly Father Promises

1. To follow Jesus 1. To forgive me as I repent

2. To remember Jesus 2. To give me the gift of the Holy
3. To keep the commandments Ghost
3. To give me eternal life

What are some things that I can do every day to help me keep
my baptismal covenants?
Confirmation
After you are baptized, you will be confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints. This is an important
ordinance because you are given the gift of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost will help
you make wise decisions throughout your life.

The Holy Ghost Can

1. Speak to you in a still small voice so that only you can hear
2. Let you know right from wrong, good from evil, truth from error
3. Warn you of danger
4. Comfort you when you are frightened, lonely, or in trouble
5. Give you understanding of sacred things
6. Speak to you in your mind and heart about truth
7. Tell you that God lives and loves you
8. Help you make wise choices

The
Sacrament
Each Sunday when you partake of the sacrament, you
renew the covenants you made on the day you were
baptized. During the sacrament, listen to the prayers
and think about the promises you made with your
Heavenly Father. This is also a good time to think
about Jesus and the sacrifice He made for you.
