RE: Advisory Committees for Superintendent Search

The Board of Education is currently in the process of soliciting candidates for the position of
Superintendent of Schools. I anticipate inviting semi-finalists to Saratoga Springs in mid-
September for extensive interviews with two advisory committees composed of multiple
stakeholders. Each Advisory Committee will have the following composition: two administrators,
two members of the teachers association, two members of the CSEA, two parents, two
community members, and two students for a total of 24 individuals; 12 per each Advisory
Committee.

The Board of Education is currently in the process of soliciting the names of community members
who wish to participate on the Advisory Committee. Community members interested in
participating should contact Lisa Nettesheim, Superintendent Secretary, by Friday, September
1, 2017. Ms. Nettesheim can be reached at l_nettesheim@saratogaschools.org or by phone at
(518) 583-4708. Prospective committee members must reside in the Saratoga Springs City
School District. In the event that there are more than four community members who volunteer
to serve on the Advisory Committees, participants will be chosen by lottery.

The charge to each Advisory Committee is to:

appoint co-chairs;
interview all semi-finalists;
assess the strengths and weaknesses of each of the candidates and report back to the
Board verbally and in writing.
The two Advisory Committees are scheduled to meet on the following dates:

Monday, September 18, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the MacFadden Building
(District Office); Conference Rooms #C221/223, with my assistant, Tony Muller.
Tuesday, September 19, 2017 beginning at 9:00 AM (tentatively) to approximately 5:00
PM to interview semi-finalists.
The evening of Thursday, September 21, 2017, with the Board of Education to report the
committees findings to the Board of Education.

Please be advised that attendance at these sessions is mandatory to ensure a consistent and fair
interview for the selected candidates.
