Instructional Objectives:
Students will watch a brain-pop video about solids of matter. After the video the students will
sort of solids of matter objects. Students will show mastery objective by taking a quick
assessment using Kahoot answering 8 out of 10 questions correctly.

Indicator:
This will be evident when students answer 8 out of 10 questions correctly using a created
Kahoot lesson by teacher.
Motivation:
Students would participate in a group exercise. They would be divided into small groups (3 or 4
children per group). Then materials (buttons, small toys, blocks, etc.) will be given to each
group. Students will then be asked to group (sort) the objects by color, size, and shapes.

Adaptations:
The English Language Learners (ELL) students will work with the teacher in a small
group setting. They will use the iread app using ipads to read simple books about solids
of matter in both English and their native language.
Differentiation:
Struggling Students: The students will watch a brain-pop video about solids of matter. The
teacher will ask questions while they watch the short clip to help keep the students engaged.
After the video, the students will choose to either draw, write, or create a skit about solids of
matter. A chart with descriptive words will be available for them to use.
Average Students: The students will take place in a smartboard solids of matter activity created
by teacher. After the activity the students will choose five objects and will write sentences
describing each object.

Advanced Students:
The students will use Sketch-up to create solids of matter objects.
Developmental Procedures:
Students will watch a brain pop video about Solids of Matter. Students will also be
engaged in an interactive smartboard activity about Solids of Matter.
Students will each get an ipad and play a Kahoot game answering questions about solids
of matter.

Teacher will set up four different stations and at each station students will do an
interactive activity.
(How can solids of matter be described? What are the characteristics of solids of
matter? Name solid of matter objects. What can you do with solids of matter objects? )

Assessment:
Students will show mastery objective by taking a quick assessment using Kahoot answering 8
out of 10 questions correctly.

Independent Practice:
Following the lesson, the students will group/sort out words of matter. A word bank will be
provided.
Summative Task:
The students will take part of a sort and name solids of matter activity on smartboard.

Academic Enrichment:
Students will create a video on youtube.com about solids of matter.
