Dear Professor Corey Hamilton,

My name is Rakan Alhamawi, I am currently a freshman at Wayne State University. I am

currently pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. I graduated from Fordson

High School with a 4.2 GPA and was awarded the Distinguished Scholarship to attend Wayne

State. I am an extremely devoted and dedicated student looking to pursue a successful career in

order to live a comfortable lifestyle where I could provide for my future family. It has come to

my concern that the course requires a professors approval to get into the course.

The English 3050 Technical Communication Reports course prepares students for

reading, researching, writing, and designing technical documents. Moreover, the course requires

students to write letters, memos, summaries, instruction proposals, and technical reports. The

course is meant to prepare students for the phase after graduating from a university. It helps give

students the skills to apply for jobs for example perfecting their own resumes. Furthermore, it

allows students to showcase the skills they have learned like writing technical reports and

instruction proposals which can be tremendously appealing to employers. This course is very

crucial in propelling students to becoming closer to the professional level.

The course is not only fulfilling one of my required credits in order to graduate, but also

it is equipping me with skills no other course could teach. It will prepare me for the real world

like applying for jobs and displaying the newly acquired skills I have learned from this course.

The course is one where I believe it has meaning and purpose unlike courses like Differential

Equations in which I believe I will not be using integrals to solve real life problems and

situations. My strength as a writer would be getting to the point of the essay or the prompt

without fluffing up my papers. My weakness as a writer would be the choice of words I use to

convey the message which sometimes can cause the readers to become confused. I am a
determined and motivated individual that always strides for success and I learn from my

mistakes. I believe this course would be one of the life changing courses in which it will propel

me to the top and expand my knowledge of what lies ahead.

Yours truly,

Rakan Alhamawi
