The Clean Energy Revolution

Clean energy is synonymous to renewable energy which is the energy that is generated from
natural processes that are continuously replenished. Renewable energy derives directly from the heat
from sunlight, geothermal heat, wind, tides, water, and various forms of biomass. This form of energy is
constantly renewed and it cannot be exhausted. Renewable energy has been proven by scientists to help
reduce the use of fossil fuel, restore the green environment and to reduce the future uncertainty of energy
supply

Malaysia fully relies on conventional fossil fuels to generate electricity that gives huge
consequences to the environment in the long run. Pointing out the obvious, fossil fuels are non-renewable
energy that contain high amounts of carbon and have been blamed for being the main contributor to
global warming. Out of few listed renewable energy available, solar energy has the potential to be used.
Unfortunately, there is lack of retail availability for solar energy in Malaysia.

Malaysias economy has been developing consistently over the years, thus making the demand
for electricity to increase, almost doubling the population growth reaching 134billion kWh in 2012
according to data from the Malaysia Energy Information Hub (MEIH). The energy demand in Malaysia is
increasing over 7% a year, while forty per cent of the energy is supplied from conventional fossil fuel.

Our role and responsibilities is crucial in helping to combat global warming. In order to overcome
these challenges , engagements from private sectors is crucial to raise awareness about the importance
of renewable energy to sustain our green earth.
