Arrow Pharmacy provides medications to patients after discharge from skilled nursing facilities through their Meds 2 Beds program. The medications delivered in the M2B package are the property of the patient and intended for their use at home. While in the facility, medications are covered by Medicare Part A, but upon discharge patients are responsible for costs through Medicare Part D or other insurance. Arrow Pharmacy will discuss payment and costs with patients before delivery and notify facilities of any issues with medication coverage or costs. The goal is smooth transition of medications but patients can choose not to take certain prescriptions. Facilities should inform Arrow Pharmacy right away of any changes to discharge dates.

Arrow Pharmacy provides the medications to the patient after discharge. Arrow Pharmacy is an independent retail pharmacy located in Farmington, CT that offers pharmacy delivery services in over 40 states across the United States.
Who is the owner of the medications?
Any medications delivered to a patient in the Meds2Beds (M2B) package are property of that resident and intended for their use after discharge. The M2B package is only to be opened by the patient when they return home.
Who pays for the medications?
While the resident is at the SNF, the costs of their medications are mostly covered by the facility under Medicare Part A. Upon discharge, the M2B medications are paid for by the residents Medicare Part D or other pharmacy coverage. Any remaining copay or cost amounts are paid for by the resident.
How does the resident pay?
Arrow Pharmacy will contact the resident or their caregiver before their discharge to discuss payment options. Arrow Pharmacy will always ensure the resident is aware of any copays or cost amounts before delivering the medications.
What if a medication is not covered or has a high cost?
For medications that have a high cost or are not covered by a residents insurance plan, Arrow Pharmacy will notify the facility immediately to either 1) obtain a prior authorization, or 2) request an alternative medication to be prescribed if possible.
What if a patient does not want to pay for a certain medication?
While the goal of the program is to assist with medication adherence, ultimately the resident has the right to the medications they choose to take and purchase. In the event that a patient does not want a particular discharge medication, Arrow Pharmacy will contact the facility and make the nurse aware.
What if the patient is discharged sooner than expected?
Any changes to a residents discharge date should be communicated to Arrow Pharmacy ASAP. Arrow Pharmacy will process the prescriptions as soon as possible and can deliver the medications to the facility the day of discharge. If the M2B package has not arrived yet, proceed with normal discharge protocol and Arrow Pharmacy will deliver the medications to the patients home via overnight shipping.
