NO MEMBERSHIP MEETING IN JULY

So get out and fish!!!!

Time on the Water . . . . . . . By Bruce A. Kitowski, President

Happy 4th of July to all the members. I hope everyone is enjoying the summer so far. It truly seems to be flying
by. Before you know it we will be buying suckers.

There are a couple of things that went on last month that I want go over with you. On June 11th we scheduled to
hold the Annual Waite Park Festival Kids Fishing Contest. Due to the extreme bad weather we had to cancel.
With trees down over power lines, and the power outages, to go along with all the port-o-potties blown over, I
decided in the best interest of safety to cancel. I would like to thank all the people who were going to be there
to volunteer their time to help out with all the kids. So what to do with all the stuff we purchased with this
event? Well it just so happened that the St. Cloud Parks and Recreation group was putting on a Fishing Derby
at Lake George on June 25th. So we donated 98 bags of goodies to this event. They were very pleased.

Just a reminder that this month there will be no membership meeting. I hope to see you at our next meeting,
and that will be in August at which Eric Jacobson from Just Big Muskies video series will be our guest
speaker. In September Eric Altena will speak. Eric is the Fisheries Manager out of Little Falls.

Enjoy the outdoors and be safe.

POLITICAL RESEARCH DIRECTOR REPORT . . . . . . By Aaron Meyer
THE MMPA SUPPORTS
* Science-based fisheries management and fishing regulation
* Conservation and improvement of fish habitat and waters throughout Minnesota
* Political activity and support for the DNR and its management plans
* Increased public information and education in matters regarding Muskies, Pike, and our fisheries
With broad statewide representation, it is our goal to be one collective voice for Muskie and Pike fishing in
Minnesota! We aim to preserve the outstanding fishing of today and to ensure that a high quality angling
experience remains available for future generations. We stand firmly on the basis of science and biology,
knowing that proper fisheries management is the only way to reach our directive. We meet regularly with DNR
biologists and management personnel to ensure that there is a direct connection and effective communication
between the DNR and the angling public.
Stay tuned for more details.

LUNKER OF THE MONTH

Month Name Length Lake
May Scott Wold 39.00 Redstone
June Eric Kohn 52.00 Mississippi River

The 2017 season is in full swing now with June in the past. We had a warm first part of June and then it
cooled off. The water temperatures on area lakes have stabilized around 65-68 degrees for the most part. Fish
have been caught with everything from bucktails, topwater, cranks, and jerkbaits. For me, the rubber bite has
been good and it sounds like bucktails are heating up.

Congratulations to Eric Kohn who caught a giant 52 fish on the Mississippi River late in the month!
He even caught it with his kids which is great to hear. Also, congrats to Brad St. George who leads the contest
with 3 fish, the largest being 47. All really solid fish. Nice work to everyone who caught a fish in June and
best of luck in July!

OUTINGS CHAIRMAN . . By Ryan Hoffman
It's hard to believe but the Mantrap outing on Sept 21-24 is less than 3 months away! If you've been on the
fence about going, there are still 6 spots left!

We're staying at Norway Hill Resort again and we have deposits on the same 2 cabins we used last year that can
accommodate 14 people. Based on 14 people going, the cost is $130 each including tax (this includes your
deposit). Cost is subject to the cabins we rent being full. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are
interested in going or if I can answer any questions for you. You can call, text, or email me. 320-492-7369
/ rhoffmanisu@gmail.com.

Just a reminder for those of you who have paid your deposits, your full payment for your portion of the cabin is
due to me by the August club meeting.

Here is the video from the outing last year:
