Cryocooler

A Cryocooler is a mechanical device which generates low temperature due to compression and
expansion of gas. It operates on a closed cycle manner, which means the mass of the working gas is
constant. There are two types of cryocoolers based on the kind of heat exchanger present namely
Recuperative where hot and cold fluids are separated by a solid wall across which heat is exchanged.
The second type of cryocooler is Regenerative where hot and cold fluids are separated by a solid matrix
and the heat is transferred indirectly.
The four main important parts of the device are storage tank for storing high pressure tank, heat
exchanger, J-T expansion valve and evaporator.
