Behind the Spite House, there is Vekil Har Mosque, commonly reffered to as the Hajji's
Mosque. Long ago, prior to leaving on a pilgrimage to Mecca (hajj), and upon their returni to
Sarajevo, men would pray in this mosquw for a s afe trip and upon their safe return home, they
would convey their gratefulness, hence the name, the Hajji's Mosque.
The construction period and the makers of the eher-ehaja's Bridge are not precisely
determined. Just as there are many legends regarding a large number od Sarajevo's significant
structures from its early past, there are, also, several legends about tje construction of the Bridge.

One of them tells us that, in 1610, in sarajevo lived Hajji Husein Hodi, who was eher-ehaja,
od Deputy Governor. Hajji Husein had a son, Mustafa, who was a fine merchant. One time
Mustafa left for Istanbul on business. There, he fell in love with the daughter of the Czar's head-
tailor (terzibaa) and permanently settled in Istanbul
